Why Are the Guys in Queensryche Backing Lita Ford?

I'm confused.

Lita Ford is going on tour with Queensryche. Fine. She's opening for them. That's great. She's also using all the members of Queensryche as her backing band. Say what?

Ok, so Queensryche won't be Lita's full backing band - she's just doing three songs with them - but it's still confusing. One of the three songs is "Close My Eyes Forever," the song Lita originally recorded with Ozzy Osbourne. Queensryche front man Geoff Tate will sing the duet with Lita. I have to admit hearing and seeing that live would be sort of awesome. I digress.

How will this work? Will Queensryche stop their show and invite Lita on stage for her three songs? Also, if Lita saves her three biggest songs for the Queensryche set, won't her opening appearance be stilted? I dunno. Maybe it will work - it's certainly a new concept and I'm all for change. Maybe the slightly odd pairing of Lita and Queensryche will sell tickets. Everyone knows I'm all about musicians making a good living for their work.

I'm interviewing Lita soon for Noisecreep so I'll ask her about the upcoming tour, which starts mid-October. Also soon on BBG!, a review of Wicked Wonderland, Lita's new album, due out October 6, 2009.

Queensryche will headline Shiprocked, sailing November 15 from Fort. Lauderdale. Lita is not booked as part of the cruise.

What do you think? Do Lita and Queensryche together work?

Lita's on my show starting today, but the interview was taped a couple of weeks ago so there was no mention of Queensryche. I would not have bought tickets for Queensryche (never been a fan), but now that she's on the bill I'm considering it. The only thing holding me back is that I will have to take a vacation day from work to do it.

I don't really get this either, but its going to be cool if they can make it flow. Lita's new stuff is great in my eyes and am very excited to have her back in the mix.

maybe she can't afford to pay her own band. wait! she and her husband live on an island and are ridiculously wealthy. who knows, I think it's bizarre!

Sounds cool to me, wish the tour was coming to Boston.

One thing I know for sure. If she was a guy, or fat and ugly, she would never have had any success. She was a novelty act, that's all. There are some awesome female metal musicians ( Joan Jett, if you call her metal, she definitely rocks, Girlschool, etc, all the way to today where there's so many, there's no point in naming them ), but she was not one, not in my book. She's about level with Vixen. She gets an extra half point for once being a Runaway.

Well, Christian I don't think Lita is that hot, she is normal looking, but she has something, she sings well, and have a couple of good songs, Joan Jett dosent, and she is WAS way more hot.

Yeah it is strange plus Lita's lost A LOT of her singing being off stage after all these years. Maybe she should use a backing track?

I liked her old albums and even the one in 95, but the new one sounds uninspired and really dull.

Ironically, I think Queensryche's new album is excellent and even though they've changed their live show a lot bringing in "family members" as part of the band, it still is better than 99% of the other crap released this year. And i mean that literally! Everything released from Mastodon to Megadeth to Alice In Chains to Devin Townsend has failed to hold my interest. But the QR record after the first month hooked me for the longest time.

Lita Ford is paying to be on the tour and Queensryche has been nice enough to take her 20K per gig. It probably would have cost more to bring her own band along as well.
