The Thunder Rolls

I listen to All That Remains from time to time. They are in my Amazon library and have tunes that are good for running. The other day, my husband was playing a cover of "The Thunder Rolls," originally recorded by Garth Brooks. I had to do a double-take. It didn't even sound like All That Remains. I'm not always a fan of covers, but this one is pretty good. I don't like country music but Garth Brooks has some good classic songs, and "The Thunder Rolls" is one of them. Check it out.

Hmmm . . . a turgid take on a (newish) country classic about domestic violence? I guess I am waiting for NIN's take on "Friends in Low Places."

I know that the song and the singer (or the band) are often kept at a distance from each other, but Labonte is one odd and problematic dude, regardless his musical stylings or anyone's particular political leanings.

Hey, who am I to question what music a person uses for exercise? I mean, I again owe Allyson a debt for this site. And Gary Glitter also gets the cardio going, right? But the sinner/sin comparison here is a bit too easy, even for me. So I will now (after all that stuff) let it alone.

@Him. LOL! (I hear that Slayer does a foot stomping version of The Devil Went Down To Georgia...)

That’s the first time I ever listened to a Garth Brooks song all the way through. Come to think of it, that’s the first time I ever listened to an All That Remains song all the way through, too!

p.s. Welcome back, HIM! You’re presence was sorely missed! And, Gary, let us not forget that little country ditty covered by Wendy O and Lemmy, “Stand By Your Man”, haha!!

I love All That Remains and don't mind some Garth Brooks every now and then, but this cover isn't doing it for me. I love it when a band tries to do something fresh with a cover but this seems too far out there. Wasn't much of a fan of All That Remains newest album either, I know they said they were going to experiment with technology and use autotune in some places, but it sounds way overdone and uninspired.
