I’ll be seeing them in Orlando as long as they autotune Coverdale!

sounds like they still have a lot of dates to announce. I probably won't go since I got to see them back in the day on a double bill with Bad English.

On bass? Michael Devin, he's only been with them for 8 years...

Look, boyz, I get it, but let’s face it, Whitesnake is washed up and was pretty much a joke to begin with.

Yeah, they had “Slide It In”, “Whitesnake” and “Slip of the Tongue” but that ain’t nothing compared to Coverdale in Deep Purple and it’s criminal how he shafted John Sykes, the creative force behind their self-titled album also known as “1987”.

Still, I’ll go see ‘em as it’s only 15 minutes from my house and I’m sure Devlin and the rest of the clowns who are foolish enough to ride this snake will do a fine job.

How are they in concert?

MB I have to say that Whitesnake were never a joke. Their albums, sales and stature within the ‘80’s hard rock renaissance is quite established.

Alright glam lovers ... if you are close I highly recommend you go. Whitesnake is a top notch band with great sing alongs and a vast catalogue of hits. Plus you get to see the twin guitar attack of Joel Hoekstra (also TSO/Cher) and Reb Beach (also Winger), so that alone is worth the price of admission to this glam rocker! But what about Coverdale’s voice you ask? Well not what it was in the 80’s for sure, but good enough he can still hit a few of those high notes on Still Of The Night!

I think they are a spent force these days. His shtick is sorta' gross now, his teeth blind people back by the FFA booth, and no amount of solid backing players can hide the fact that he sounds like a cat having sex with heavy-grit sandpaper.

Personally, I like him as a second tier Purple singer. I also liked his early 'Snake blues stuff. But I hold the UK version of _Slide It In_ in high regard. The US version? Not so much. How can a person, in a shameless (and Coverdale has never met a chance at stardom that he didn't leg-hump) bid for US listeners, throw out the majesty of Galley, Moody, and Powell (not to mention Lord and Hodgkinson) and muddle it up with the redo featuring Murray and Sykes?!?! The reason people didn't take to the album had nothing to do with the UK version not having that "special" something. No, they noted something that is there in both versions: Coverdale stoops low and trips all over his "come hither" winks and nods and jabs at sexual innuendo. Put it this way: Plant borrowed the juice from a lemon (that Robert Johnson actually picked) and did well by his fans; in Coverdale's hands, it would be a lemonade stand of sexual pleasures served in red Solo cups.

Yet still, _Slide It In_ is a great album for its time, even if Coverdale needs to constantly thank Moody and Galley for their input. Thankfully, in a bid for more cash, they did release a version of the CD that featured both mixes. Guess which one never gets played at my house? And a good quality video of the UK line-up never ceases to amaze me.

Did I mention that Cozy Powell is awesome? Just wanted to make sure.

Here I go again...ah geez...girlz, girlz, girlz...now listen up, it's razor sharp. Wait, wrong band. If you enjoy Whitesnake, go to the show and enjoy it for all it's worth as it very well be the last time they come around. Personally, WS wasn't really my cup of Miler Genuine Draft, though I did see them (at far distance) once or twice. I loved the videos though and had a thing for Tawny Kitaen for quite some time- so much so that I started dating and then married a dead ringer for her.

Anyway, back to my intro. I used to have a list of about 20 quote or so in my cubicle at work. One of 'em was the opening lyrics to Here I Go Again, "I don't know where I'm goingn but I do know where I've been." A Co-worker (my age, into the same music) recognized the lyric and asked me, "I guess you really like Whitesnake". When I asked why, He pointed out the obvious reference to the lyric I had posted. I kinda giggled and replied, " never thought of it that way...I didn't get that lyric from a Whitesnake song, I stole it from a Joan Jett song (who probably co-opted it from some other song).

Him, Neil Murray might not have played on the original version of Slide It In, but he was in Whitesnake from the very beginning so you can hardly fault him for the US version.

Hear, hear, HIM!!!

Check Coverdale in that Purple Live In Japan video of them performing “Highway Star” with Bolin on guitar! ... I rest our case!

Agreed, Snoot. I don't fault Murray at all. What I fault is Coverdale chasing any and every chance to 'make it big.' There was really no reason to re-mix _Slide It In_. The original version stands up to this day. Sorry if I was unclear on that point.
