Steve Perry Releases Video For 'No More Cryin'

Another new Steve Perry track! Today we get the new video for "No More Cryin'" from the upcoming album Traces. That new record will be out October 5 and you can already pre-order it - click the link below to support the site! I think I like this track a little better than the first one Perry dropped from this album.

Okay, so this is a slower version of his Journey legacy. I get it. That's his range now. I still love his voice. But I hope the album varies things up a bit. It feels a bit safe (based on only two songs).

Nice melody. Nothing groundbreaking. Probably exactly what Steve should be doing now.

I liked the first song better than this. I would love to hear something with a more rocking edge to it off this

Okay, so Perry’s voice is obviously shot, but because he’s one of those legendary hyenas of Rock like Sebastian Bach, for example, shot for him means he can still sing albeit an octave or two lower but on key.

That fact still makes him a better singer than most and not as shot as Don Dokken, another member of that elite group of hyenas that once ruled the airwaves.

If only Dokken would quit the booze and cigs to try and at least partially restore his once legendary voice from the wimper it has become.

As for Perry, though I was never really a fan of his brand of Schmaltz Rock, I laud his comeback. I really thought we’d never see or hear from him again.

p.s. And I agree with Jeff ... Could you crank it up a little more on a couple, Steve? We don’t really need another “Any Way You Want It” and never really did in the first place but it nevertheless would be amusing to hear something a little more “Rocking”.

I share most feeling here - great he is back - lyric content and delivery not bad but the songs need some balls - Turn the amp up with some distortion.

Shaun, Steve Perry's Autograph featuring Bobbie Blotzer?

It is schmaltz, guys. But there is good schmaltz and bad schmaltz. Perry is firmly in the former category. This is what one always has to decided when it comes to AOR talents. Brad Delp is/was another purveyor of the good stuff. DeYoung yet another. Mr. Loaf? Eh. He had his moment (though it I never "got it" when it comes to him).

Side question: anyone ever think that David Glen Eisely in Giuffria sounded like Perry? Every time I hear "Call to the Heart," I just hear it.

I readily acknowledge Meat's place in the pantheon, Fletch. Thankfully (I guess), I am not the person choosing those who belong. His style never resonated with me.
