Bang Go the Bells

babylonad.jpgI wonder why Babylon A.D. isn't playing Rocklahoma? They didn't last very long, but I bet the members would be up for a special one-off gig.

Anyway, I often listen to "Bang Go the Bells" while on the treadmill. I always think "this song rocks. This band is underrated."

I'm sure at least some of you agree.

Babylon A.D. formed in California in the mid 80s. It didn't take them long to earn a deal with Arista - and soon, "Bang Go the Bells" was on MTV. Sadly, Babylon A.D. didn't last so long.

Here's the video for "Bang Go the Bells."

Tell me: did you ever see Babylon A.D. perform live? If so, share your story.

maybe next year. right now they have their quota for bands that weren't around long and never had a hit or aren't together anymore. i have a friend who really likes them though, i just don't remember them so i won't say anything good or bad about them.

There are so many band who would be great for Rocklahoma, they could never play all this year. Which is great in my opinion, the festival needs bands for a couple of more years. ;) I'm sure they will play next year, or the year after. :)

I know the name (and it's a good band name), but never heard them. I remember them getting mentioned some in Metal Edge or one of those magazines back around 90-91. There were just too many bands to keep up with back around that time.

Love Babylon A.D. I'm a huge fan...definately one of the most underated bands of the genre. Favorite songs from them are; Hammer Swings Down, Caught Up In A Crossfire, The Kid Goes Wild, and Bang Go The Bells.
It would be really cool to see a reunion from them...

Bang Go the Bells is a classic song from the era. I have the second CD, Nothing Sacred, which if memory serves me correctly has some good tracks. The ballad on that CD is "So Savage the Heart" which was a great song.

Ah, the B.A.D. boys! We played the same circuit in Northern CA and they definately rocked it. Pretty underated on a national level though, that's for sure. Never gigged with 'em but I think we may have, ah, shared a few other things...

If you're interested, I found out recently that Babylon A.D. guitarist Ron Freschi has a new band. You can check them out at www.syrym.com. There's five or six songs posted and I have to say, as a big fan of Babylon A.D., this is some very cool stuff. The website says they've got an album coming out soon. After hearing the samples, I'm definitely gonna buy it. I just love that they're returning to the great sound that Babylon A.D. had on their first album. Killer!
