Happy Easter...Don't Play These Songs for Grandma

Happy Easter, Glam fans! I know most of you will be with family and friends today and not checking the interwebs - and that is great. But in case you're here I felt obliged to list a few songs you shouldn't play for grandma later today.

Slayer: "Skeleton Christ"

Motley Crue: "Shout at the Devil"

Mayhem: "Freezing Moon"

Want to rock out safely? Play grandma Stryper. I bet she'd like that.

LOL - you're not dissing the 'yellow and black attack', are you ?

What in the heck prompted you to list these "songs" on the most Holy of Days (Easter) in the Christian faith? I am disgusted and personally offended at this slap in the face. Hey, it's your website, but if this is attitude of it, guess I won't be wasting my time visiting here anymore.

Interesting. I hate religion - ANY religion - shoved in my face period. Too bad that happens every day, every place I go.

Thank goodness for freedom of speech, right?

Notice I didn't "shove" religion in your face and wouldn't even think of it. Would not knowingly offend you or anyone but also ask the same of people and places I go. Yes, I believe in freedom of speech as well and notice once again that I said "it's your site" and you're free to post/publish what you want, just as it's my right not to view/frequent these sites. It is not my intention to get into a shouting match as I have enjoyed your site as we like the same music. I just thought this post was uncalled for.

I too, found it offensive Allyson.
Granted, it is your website & you are well within your rights to free speech, however just because you have a hatred of religion, "any religion", the move to post that on Easter was a move on par with the douchebags that picket outside the funerals of our soldiers who have lost their lives in Iraq & Afghanistan, and at the funeral of Ronnie James Dio. Whether you agree with something or not, that was uncool.

You people are friggin' insane! although I'm not speaking for Allyson, it seems painfully obvious to me that she was using a comedic device known as irony in this post. comparing her post to the actions of misguided people who picket soldiers' funerals shows a clear desire to be offended first, rather than to take the time to actually get the point. People in this world need to lighten up and stop taking life so seriously.

Hey people, some reality here. First of all, I am a Christian, a pretty serious one ( www.jesusmetal.com.au is my website ). However, in the first instance, Easter is a pagan festival, which Rome Christianised. Jesus did not tell us to observe it, and eggs and rabbits are pagan fertility symbols, not Christian ones. Therefore, Easter is not a Christian event to start with. However, if it means something to you, go for it, Paul the Apostle reminds us that some people esteem one day over another and they have that right. But, it's pretty clear to me that Allyson was not launching any sort of serious attack on the church, or Jesus, or anything else. If you're that thin skinned, how do you survive listening to metal at all ? As my first response showed, I took her post to be light hearted, and not meant to be anything like the antics of the Westboro Baptist Church. Anyone who would draw that comparison, obviously does not know Allyson, or read this site all that often.

Huh-uh-lo-oh!

It's called HUMOR!

As Christian, who's name says who he is, brings to light, it's all meant to be in jest and it's about about IRONY, as Bob points out.

Allyson, was just bein' like a kid punkin' on Grandma for Easter. It's HILLARIOUS! C'mon, people, lighten up!

p.s. Christian, I actually finally got into MASS, pullin' one of their albums down off iTunes on Easter Sunday. Awesome! And of course, I listened to Stryper, too. And Crue! And all the usual suspects!

I didn't say I hate religion, I said I hate religion shoved in my face [just like much of everything else]. Note the difference.

I've always thought this to be interesting: metal fans are notoriously conservative and yet like outlandish lyrics and antics of their favorite bands. Anti-religious messages in metal are common, yet it's not okay to mention them? Or just not okay on religious holidays? I think this would be a fascinating academic study...as in, what are the boundaries of religion for the majority of metal fans?

Clearly I've been misunderstood here. I'm a compassionate, open-minded person. But if you knew me...well, you'd know that.

I also find many METAL fans (not all) have AMI (Anger Management Issues), Chauvinistic and all around A*sholes who are generally way to worried about their "Profile", are usually uncultured, uninformed, ignorant, devoid of humor and irony and totally lacking in all around intelligence.

That said, I have also met many great ones. Just hung out with nearly a whole club full at the Accept show at Firestone in Orlando. I'd say only about 10 percent of the people in the place were ignorant or jerks, which, for this day and age, is pretty remarkable.

Hey Metalboy, how was Accept ? I loved them, last year.

One other point - Easter is a Catholic invention. The singer of Slayer is Catholic. So, what's the issue ? :P
April 27, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterChristian
Aw, if Slayer's barker is Catholic, you're right. Bein' one myself, better to be a Jesuit "Questioner".

But, for real, Old Sarge...

Huh-uh-lo-oh! COMEDY!

I guess we lost him, which is a shame becuz he needed to be enlightened about the concept of humour!

p.s. Christian! Accept is THE Greatest Metal Band alive, bar none! I saw 'em witness them slay the kidz left and right point blank!
