Falling Red...The Next Guns n' Roses?

Yet another awesome Glam band for you today: Falling Red from Europe. Falling Red released Shake the Faith in 2010 via Rocksector Records. Take a listen to the clip below and you'll hear that sleaze and crunch. Now, I don't think Shake the Faith is the next Appetite for Destruction -- but it's still darn good and has that dirty rock n' roll vibe we all love.

The band has a new EP now called Hasta La Victoria Siempre (released just two weeks ago).

I guess maybe the best part about a band like Falling Red is that they are not afraid of sleaze - they own it. Listen:

there is only one gnr and no one can ever come close to being the next gnr. axl is one of a kind and in my opinion the last true rock star.

Hmm. They're good but I don't really like it when new bands are compared with earlier ones like this. It's like when Crashdiet came out and everyone said they were the next Motley Crue. Sure, you can hear the influences as you can with almost any band but Motley was Motley and Crashdiet is Crashdiet. And...now they're quite different with new singer Simon Cruz. If anything I hear more of a Skid Row influence now. Even GnR,as good as they were took their ingfluences from Aerosmith, the Sex Pistols and Hanoi Rocks. I remember back in the Hollywood Rose days when they were considered to be a Hanoi copy and not an especially good one. Axl loved Michael Monroe. Loved him. The only band that came out that sounded like they fell out of the sky (and when I say this, I mean that it was hard to hear their influences.) was classic Dave-era Van Halen. No one at that time heard guitar playing like EVH's, we hard rock/metal fans take the tapping, shredding and gorgeous harmonics for granted now, we're so used to hearing it from other players and not just Ed. VH were almost a punk band with tracks like 'On Fire', 'The Atomic Punk' and 'Loss of Control'. So..let's let Falling Red be Falling Red...;)

Annnnd...now that I've listened to Falling Red...nice track! They would've fit in nicely with the LA/Sunset glam/sleaze scene but they still sound like themselves although the usual glam and punk influences are there. I like 'em.. :) It's really great there are new bands coming out like this; rock needs to make a huge comeback.

Yup these guys rock. A good fusion of sleaze and punk but very melodic. They toured with Dirty Penny in the UK this past fall just before Binge Daniels pulled the chute on Dirty Penny.

Falling Red Roxx! Lousy logo tho. And let's not get too carried away, bumblefoot. I really wouldn't think of Axl as that big of a deal you make him out to be and I saw 'em six times, the first was at the last club gig they ever played, which took place at The Bayou in Georgetown, Washington D.C.

Anyway, the last REAL true Rock Star was Kurt Cobain.

hey metalboy what makes you the expert on everything? kurt cobain was a loser that got lucky . he was a shitty singer and guitar player.dave grohl was the real talent in nirvana. you always seem to have some b s story about everything.and a know it all attitude.

Hey now as a closet glamologist I happen to agree with 99% of the Metalboys input to the site. That dude has lived the life most of us dream about.

I am a huge GNR fan saw them (3) Times I never was a big Nirvana fan but even Dave Grohl confirms the Metalboys comments on Mr Cobains legendary status.

That's crazy, kid! I'm the biggest Glam Metal fan there is, but talk about turning the Music World upside down... Cobain trancended classification.

A true original. They saddled him with Grunge but it was the poseurs like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Seattle scene and countrywide copycats ad naseum that were the poseurs that created it that are the ones that are too blame.

Cobain changed the game and the world. I was there. I know it. I saw it. And I'm not claiming to be an expert. I'm just callin' it like I see it.

Tho I like G'n'R, they became poseurs real quick and it was Axl that did 'em in!

Cobain kill it 'til he killed himself! The REAL Deal!

Thanx, Shawn, but in defense of Bumblefoot's comments, Cobain did not live up to his potential.

He snuffed himself out WAY before he could really make his mark!

But Axl just faded away!

Cobain killed himself. Axl killed a REAL Rock'n'Roll Band! What's worse!

nirvana was just a wanna be sex pistols or just plain punk. pearl jam posers? i dont agree. they stuck to their guns and still do today. they keep their tix prices low.cobain really had know potential.it really was axl who killed the band , i m sure slash had alot to do with it and matt sorum.i know its not the original, but i like chinese democracy.the best tracks is there was a time and scraped. axl has always lived by his own rules. true hardcore.i would like to see a reunion, but in the mean time i ll enjoy the new band. i ve been a fan since AFD first came out, with no video on MTV.and wasnt it nirvana that killed glam? and this is called bring back glam. i m for gnr and all glam bands..crue,ratt,poison,dokken,warrant,l.a..guns and faster pussycat.

Well, when your dead you can't try and start another rock and roll band.

Axl sold out. That "November Rain" crap made Izzy quit. That was the beginning of the end. With Gilby, they were just going thru the motions at that point. Axl was always a pain in the a*s but it got even worse as time went on until he became completely unbearable.

Cobain flamed out. He didn't kill Glam Metal. Like I said, he got saddled with Grunge. He was true to himself and his music but, unfortunately, obviously had severe psychological problems.

I love all the Glam Metal stuff more than anything but...

Cobain truly was The Last Great Rock Star, but I can't even listen to the Nirvana stuff anymore. I fried it completely out as I just overplayed it all to death when he offed himself.

Pearl Jam was a bunch of lame-o's fronted by a yoddler! So, UNROCK!

sorry metalboy, but i gotta disagree with you on everything in your last post.most if not all glam bands blame nirvana for killing glam metal. pearl jam was the best of those grunge bands. they are far superior musical than nirvana.kurt was a shitty guitar player and his singing was terrible. have you heard them live before? what a joke.
April 29, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterbumblefootboy
Metalboy...I'm surprised about your dislike of Soundgarden I have to say. I loved both them and Alice In Chains; far more than I ever liked Nirvana or Pearl Jam. I think I would have to give the last rock star standing award to Slash and H.I.M. Ville Valo as they're both still around. Slash especially is our last great guitar hero after EVH I think. Hopefully with all the new bands coming out that will change. I'm with you about Nirvana being overplayed. I often wonder if'd they'd be so popular now had Cobain survived.
