Vain, 'Down Payment Blues' -- Awesome Cover

Happy Monday.

The other day, I received a treat in my inbox: a video clip of Vain doing an AC/DC cover of "Down Payment Blues." The clip was filmed all the way back in 1990. Be warned: the clip is very cool. It's a definite window into the history of Glam. You can just tell the guys in Vain were on top of the world during this show. The music industry was different, fans were actually excited to buy music and bands played live to not only make a living but also to have a blast.

I hope you enjoy this clip.

Saw VAIN when I was in Hollywood '88/89?? at The Foundations Forum Music Conference and met earlier in the day Jamie Scott (guitar). Heavens Edge was also on the Bill. GREAT SHOW!!!

Davey Vain was going to play a solo show at The Whiskey {August 2005??} Joel Ellis was asked to support..However, it fell apart before it got off the ground. This gave me the push to play after covering from the stroke. Material would have been from 'Cats in Boots', 'Heavy Bones'& some solo material.

WHOA! This is SO LARGE!

Even this song selection for an encore tells you something about VAIN, who never seemed to go for the obvious and always went for the jugular.

Roy! You are one lucky man, not only that you saw VAIN, one of THE greatest unsung bands from back in the day, but also Heaven's Edge, a personal fave and criminally overlooked act, as well.

And that Whisky show would have been huge. And I'm glad you are Rockin' again, my brother!

Florentine! Jasey Rae may be "having a blast" in yer clip but I'm not experiencing perhaps quite the same level of euphoria watching it, Bro... DUDE! Don't foist this poseur Emo babysh*t pop on us, man! VAIN blows these teenybopper Bozo clownz off the stage! UNROCK ALERT!

Aaaaah, Heaven's Edge! now that's what I'm talkin' about! growing up in New Jersey, and never making it out West until long after the glory days were over, heaven's Edge was one of the bands I did get to see quite often since they were from Philly which was right in my back yard. (Holy run-on sentence Bat man!) I remember listening to the Heaven's Edge concert broadcast over the legendary WMMR from which that live version of "Is that all You want From Me" was taken. Even after the longest, hardest day of work, cranking up that song still puts me in a great mood and forces me to crack open a cold one and crank it up.

I've got the whole show on VHS - good stuff from a great band. Unfortunately, despite being one of my favorite bands I never actually got to see them live; but, I guess at least we get a new CD once every blue moon.

Dude! Seriously? The Beatles? My list is a roster of CURRENT bands who might be considered as alternatives to your a*s clown poseur Jasey Rae.

I saw Muse and Passion Pit on Saturday Night Live recently -- that's frickin' elevator music. I'm talkin' Rock and Roll here, son.

Setting Vain live was one of the few good things about Bash on the Bayou.
This band had some of tiger worst luck. 2nd album rejected by label and the two follow up albums were released overseas where.most people didn't hear them in the age of grunge. I like then so much i bought CD from a Stoner band called Mover just because Davey produced it.

Scott! Interesting comments -- A trader of Rare Indy 80's L.A. Glam Metal Demos from bands most of you have never heard of but are vastly superior to the majority of acts we obsess over here -- once told me VAIN, hands down, was and is THE best act to ever hit the scene.

You're lucky you saw 'em and I feel lucky just to have seen this incredible video Al has posted here.
