Former Roxy Blue Singer Todd Poole Has A New Band

Former Roxy Blue singer Todd Poole has a new band called 714 and I dig it! It's not totally Glam, but the songs are definitely throw back. The band is based in Memphis. In addition to Poole, 714 features Matt Dees (Bass), Chris Turnbow (Guitars) and Jimmy Fulp (Drums).

I was actually given this CD about 5 months ago at Rocklahoma. I only spun it about 4 or 5 times but it just never grew on me. The songs are just a bit bland for my liking.

Phew. Totally paint by numbers Modern Rock. Looks like the dude's been doing his homework when it comes to sounding like the bands du jour.

As for Roxy Blue, get their album, "Want Some?". It frickin' ROCKS B*LLS! Just check out "Rob The Cradle", one of their songs from that album. They've got a great cover of The Who's "Squeezebox" on it too!

Roxy Blue just released 3 cds of unreleased music from 1991/1992. (http://fnarecords.net/index.php/want-some-more-211.html) One of the cds, "Want Some More" is basically what could have turned into the 2nd Roxy Blue cd. Yeah it's a shame that Todd Poole and the band thought they needed synthetics to do their Jam session. I was always up front pumped ready to Rock their Awesome songs from Want Some straight and Lovin every minute of it!

Haha... bland, huh? Is that what you guys call "GOOD" music these days? This is actually GREAT music and I'll take it any day over most of the crap that's out there on mainstream radio now. Personal experience: I was in a club touring band called "Frankly Scarlett..." in the early to mid '90's that happened to visit Memphis, TN several times on our rounds. We played a club called "The Stage Stop" and it was always my absolute favorite stop on our tours. The people of Memphis were always friendly, supportive and VERY musically knowledgeable. We happened upon this stop in 1992 right when Roxy Blue was signed to Geffen. The band had come into the club one night during our engagement and we, of course, were expecting the worst due to the stereotype of "signed bands" notoriously bashing the "no names", like us. NOTHING of the sort! Todd and the rest of their entourage were courteous to our gig and COULDN'T have been nicer! They came up and jammed with us both individually and as Roxy Blue complete. We all had a great time and it was one of my fondest memories during my playing days. Thank you to Todd, Roxy Blue, and the great people of Memphis, TN! I guess I should've expected NOTHING less!

I was totally so impressed with the song "World breaks down". This is what being a REAL MUSICIAN and artist is all about. Todd you have something here to be so proud of and of course the past music also. Being the past singer of Sabrah and Quest I have to say I was just completely impressed with this song. The lyrics and music and the total sum of this song would be a NUMBER ONE HIT, hands down given the right push. Todd I wish you well and take care of yourself and again this song I can listen too over and over and never get tired of it.
