HDNet Will Broadcast Live From Rocklahoma Tonight

If you're like me and skipped Rocklahoma this year, have no fear: you can catch the last night of the festival live via HDNet. This means you'll see performances by Jackyl, Queensryche, Puddle of Mudd, Black Stone Cherry, Chickenfoot and more. The live coverage begins at 5 p.m. ET. My DVR is set!

I waited too long and missed out on the chance to go to the "original format" Rocklahoma. The "new format" just isn't my cup of tea (or stronger) for a variety of reasons.

But, if I am reading the HDNet and Rockaloma websites correctly, this broadcast only covers bands on the specific night and, even then, only on the Main and Hard Rock stages. That leaves out quite a bit of really good music--even some that I don't particularly care for, mind you--on the minor Retrospect (not trying to start a fight with the founder and his minions) stage and on all the stages the other two nights.

I wonder what led to that decision? I am sure it has something to do with licensing, permissions, and those sorts of things. But it feels like a missed opportunity for the promoters (all hail the monolith!) and the fans . . . and the potential future fans.

I have fond fond memories of ROK 2009. It truly was the best 4 days ever....Camping right next to the Garden of Evil, and living, drinking, camping, eating Hard Rock and Heavy Metal 24/7. Amazing.

I watched last night and there were some problems with sound quality and the lead vocals overpowering most of the music. I was ecstatic when they finally fixed this very early into the Chickenfoot set.

All I can say about Chickenfoot is WOW. They blew the doors off the place. High energy, lot of fun on stage and I will give hdnet high marks for the camera coverage. They didn't miss a beat when it came to the mastery that is Joe Satriani on guitar

I don't feel I really missed anything this go around. Chickenshite is boring Corporate Rock.

I am eating my heart out for missing is the one Bri caught in 2009. Geez, what a line-up! Look at all the reunions that happened for that!

What a set back for our music when the organizers cold heartedly walked away and, with nary an exception, went all Modern Rock and Nu Metal. It's a cryin' dang shame!
