From The Insane File: VXN Members Change Band Name

Ok, so we all knew that VXN - the "other" version of Vixen - would likely be forced into a name change. Fine. So what did original Vixen members Janet Gardner, Roxy Petrucci and Share Ross change their band name to, exactly? Well, the answer is JANETSHAREROXYGINA... otherwise known as the worst band name in rock history.

Seriously.

Between scab versions, bad name choices, commercials pimping carpet cleaning and rockers acting like political commentators, I just don't know what to think of our beloved Glam musicians anymore. I mean, it's getting out of hand. Don't any of these people just want to make music and use sound judgement anymore? Bloody hell! Like I wrote before, I don't think the world needs two versions of Vixen, but I'd still give VXN, er, JANETSHAREROXYGINA a go if they came to town. And I support glam musicians making money 100% -- but man. This isn't a game. Music is a business. A little bit of creativity and planning goes a long way.

Oh, and in case you are wondering, the Vixen name is owned by original guitarist Jan Kuehnemund.

I'm finally back from Rocklahoma... Though most here wouldn't believe it... some great performances this year (as well as some poor ones). seems as I may have seen Geoff tates last show with Queensryche.

As far as Vixen/VXN/JANETSHAREROXYGINA.... who cares what they are called as long as they are able to release a solid collection of songs? If they sound good live and write some decent new stuff I could care less what they call themselves.

It's the music that matters to me.

Rock-it it's more like "Tonight playing at banjo-creek, VIXEN"
It sounds ok, but "Tonight play at banjo-creek JANETSHAREROXYGINA" Let's be honest, noone cares for Vixen or there internal struggels, but the "new" band name dosent really flirt the guys who books the gigs.

And as Metalboy suggested Cougar would be a much better name for a band with cougars!

I hope the new name sticks. I already got it tattooed on my body!!

It really just comes across as pathetic. They were B-list stars during the glam 80's, so there isn't much interest there to begin with. If they could get their stuff together and stay on the road, they might be able to make a living playing music. But look at this realistically: they aren't going to sell any new music, and the fact that they are quibbling and have two separate versions of the band certainly can't be helping much.

It's the same sort of deal with LA Guns & Great White.

I sent Roxy an email a while back on this subject, & offered 'em a suggestion: call the band "KITSUNE" , which is Japanese for little fox... i.e. exactly the same origin as Vixen.

As bad as that name is, and it is bad, the pic is worse. The 3 ex-Vixen ladies look fine but the horrible photoshop of the guitarist looks atrocious. Don't they have a cousin or nephew that has a computer and a scanner. They whole thing screams of we have no creativity whatsoever.

Have to chime in.

That is a really stupid name for a band. Sounds like it was made up by a bunch of 10 year old girls. Anyone could come up with a better name.

On the Cougar thing, as on over 40 year old woman, I think I might be offended. Are they cougars because they're over 40 or do you guys know for a fact that they like to rock 25 year olds (not that there is anything wrong with that)???? Just curious.

I think they should call the band "Ditch The Bitch". A direct shot at Jan.

According to their facebook page they are now called JanetShareRoxyGina aka JSRG.
Makes sense JSRG is a much better name than JanetShareRoxyGina.... not.

Kenny, now THAT'S funny (and creative). Metalboys name is a keeper also!!

Well now T & N (FKA Tooth & Nail) can be satisfied they have been beat for "worst name change due to legal reasons for a bunch of 80's rockers trying to recapture past glories". In both cases nobody will know who the hell they ares w/out resorting to making very obvious reference to their old bands.

More power to 'em for still wanting to play their music, but get a little more creative w/ the names (music may be the most important thing, but in cases like this name recognition is a big factor if they want the "old" fans to know who they are).

At least w/ the "project" the members of Queensryche are doing w/out Geoff they came up w/ a totally unique name (good or bad as it may be).

it's not the name that's important

Does anyone that doesn't think this is dumb think EddieMikeAlexSammy would have been a big draw if they couldn't use the VH name for some reason?

When you were barely a blip on the radar when the music you played was actually popular a stupid name/acronym like this is certainly no help. Important or not, they need to make people realize who they are (the average fan will not know Vixen by their first names, people who post on sites like this are very much the exception) if they expect to draw fans of Vixen.

Now Brian C's comment is funny!

p.s. Rita! COUGAR is just meant to be a joke, nothing more. There are plenty of cougars in my life I'm chasing around just as much as other chicks who are younger.

And now, at long last, we know Fletch is Gary!

And now we know, too, Vixen's music has some kind of popularity, considering the number of comments here.

Personally, I love it!

RIP that dude from Blue Tears who wrote and produced most of their sh*t. That guy was a genius and the music he made with them was better than his own (which is still quite good).

And of course conveniently for them Jan the owner of the Vixen name passes away so the other 3 can now use the name.
