Aerosmith, 'Lover Alot' -- New Song

Aerosmith has a new song. It's called "Lover Alot" and will be on the new album Music From Another Dimension. The album is due November 6. I love the raw guitar riff on this track. What do you think?

I know Metalboy is going to give me shit, but this song is much better than "Hell Or Hallelujah," which I also consider a great tune. The riff is classic Perry...raw, disjointed, and very sleazy. Hopefully, the new album is more "Lover" and less "Legendary."

NOT what I would consider a classic Aerosmith tune.

Glad to hear Joe Perry whip out the slide again in the intro and solo Ace....8-).I think this is a whole lot better than the sappy shit they've been cranking out for a long time now.

There's no doubt they can still kick ass live. I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl about 2 weeks ago & they were great!

Joe's great with the slide, & I think Brad's an awesome guitarist, too. What I really don't like about this? I can pinpoint it. JP's use of an pitch shift/octave pedal throughout the entire song. It takes away from anything interesting he's playing. The exact opposite of the way I felt about the lush sound he got with "Jaded". This just sounds ratty.

I think the music is great. I even dig Perry's octave pedal. The lyrics, however, are dumb dumb dumb dumb, and the chorus is extremely annoying.

Not a big fan of octave pedals (or most pedals actually) either Ace. I've always told every person I taught the guitar to that I can make their Mother sound great through enough pedals/effects.LOL. Learn to play it and make it sound good at a low volume, then turn it up and add whatever you want once you have it down.Guess I'm weird that way, because 95% of guitarists today have a pedalboard that would cover my living room floor!! One of the few I know of that doesn't saturate his sound with effects is Mathias Jabs from the Scorps.

i find this song very geberic and boring the first single was better im thinkin they should let everybody else write there songs again like they did in the 80s

Not bad....not as good as Legendary Child by any means. Hoping for better.

Yep, Batlizard, you guessed it -- I like "Hell or Hallelujah" by KISS infinitely better than this. Here's why -- while I applaud the energy, Perry's great guitar work, is buried alive by Tyler's nonstop vocal, let alone his own effects as Ace points out and Gary concurs.

And though I think the wall to wall vocal definitely achieves the frenetic feel they are going for, they simply don't allow the song to breath. If there is a riff here you never get to hear it in the clear, something that has normally always been a trademark of their songs.

Though this is head and shoulders above "Legendary Child", it's not nearly as good as "Jaded", the song Ace brought up that's truly the last great Aerosmith song.

Still, this is a massive improvement over any of their 80's output.

"Rocks" it ain't, but it still ROCKS!

What Glamrockerarch said.

I didn't even listen all the way through. Not what I expected to hear. Hopefully, not indicative of the rest of the CD.

I know they can do better but maybe after 40 years, the well is starting to dry up. Hopefully not.
