What Happened to Eddie Money?

Just. Wow.

Picture it: Monday Night Football. I'm watching my beloved Bengals play the Ravens when a Geico commercial comes on. Featuring Eddie Money. Singing his hit "Two Tickets to Paradise" to a very confused family. Eddie is apparently a travel agent... but he looks bad, yo. Just really bad.

Now, if you want some true, hilarious, Eddie Money action... nothing beats the time he appeared on The King of Queens.

The same thing that happened to Robert Plant.

This would actually be a good commercial except for the two Tenacious D-like "Hipster Hicks", looking more like a couple Brooklyn dwelling Ad Guys, tacked on the end to somehow explain what we have just witnessed in the main body of the commercial.

Geico and their ad agency are grasping with this campaign, though Money's performance is quite hilarious, regardless of the fact that father time (and whatever else) has not been the kindest toward him.

For a much better example of current music oriented advertising featuring one of "THE funniest Metal Bands of All Time", check this out:

It's as if Ozzy and Steven Adler had a drunken interlude and Eddie is like the Benjamin Button love child. Just sayin'

I'm a huge fan of Eddie Money, but yeah he hasn't aged well. No denying though, he made some great tunes back in the day.

MB, Saw that commercial the other day with Clayton during an "Around The Horn" I was watching on ESPN. I literally had tears streaming down my face afterwards!! Absolutely the best I've watched so far in 2012 IMO!!!!!

Hahaha!!!, Gary! I'm glad at least YOU were able to strain your finger to click on the link. I agree -- funniest commercial so far this year!

And, Sweet Lou! That is the funniest comment I have read so far on BBG! this year!

Actually, in terms of aging since the late 90s, he doesn't look too bad. It was the 80s and early 90s where he started to weather (the reasons, other than age, being rather obvious).

Play back some of those "second life" videos . . . notice the soft focus? the black and white? They were hiding what time and drugs and booze had done.

Or how about his last (so far as I know) turn at the commercial wheel: the Carl's Jr. commercials (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSlmN0oycY0)? Notice how they don't linger on his chiseled good looks?

Haha!!! Chiseled looks. He always looked kinda goofy ( believe me, I've spent enough time in the mirror to know what that looks like, hahaha!!!). Speaking of soft focus and retouching, just take a good look at his first album cover. Amazing what a great retouched can do -- he practically looks like Robin Zander in that photo.

Still, he's a hellacious songwriter. Just go to Wikipedia and look up all the hits. Od better yet, check 'em out on a greatest hits package, if you've never heard his stuff (Is the latter possible?).
