Crue! Priest! D.A.D.! The Angels! Quireboys! Exciter! H.e.a.t! Rock Goddess! TOTO!...

... er... um... TOTO?!

WTF?! Oh, well... um... I suppose if you can have H.e.a.t., you can have TOTO.

Regardless of these two A.O.R. acts, this is already shaping up to be KILLER...

Who knows, maybe by June, I'll have struck it rich and actually be able to afford to go to Sweden to attend what is surely to be a great festival, judging from the line-up already.

I think the biggest surprise is the return of the backyard babies. Listen to the album Stockholm syndrome if you never listened to these guys before. They are saying a new album in the works...

"Meet you all the way! Roseanna oh yeah!!!" Toto!! Huge in Sweden (apparently)

Hold the Line by Toto is a masterpiece. Everything else I've heard from the Lukather Brothers puts me to sleep.

Wait a minute... I thought Motley Crue was retiring and this was their last tour ? :)

Haha!!, Rita! You nailed it! "Hold The Line" is some of the finest cheese ever made.

Regardless of the turn (for the worse, unfortunately), the song has one of THE most killer guitar intros ever.

And, Kixchix, no doubt, "Roseanna", written for Roseanna Arquette, is one of THE prime examples of late 70's AOR Radio Cheesepop!

To Rita's point, the Lukathers were arbiters of some of THE cheesiest schlock to ever hit the airwaves.

Interestingly, I actually have a cover of "Stairway To Heaven" from 1985's Far Corporation album, "Division One", with Steve Lukather on lead guitar and Robin Mcauley on lead vocals.

Check out that album for pure AOR heaven, a la TOTO (hahaha!!!), "Stairway" not withstanding.

Metalboy!, if you do strike it rich would you consider giving me an interest free loan so I can attend as well? I am good for it!

"Sleeping My Day Away" remains one of those songs I can't get out of my head. Disneyland After Dark were/are wonderful. But that song, Binzer II's guitar sound and the way Binzer I sings those lyrics (and those lyrics are great . . . "I Speed at Night" shot through a Danish groove machine), still gets me. It is one of those songs that makes you wonder: how did they not get bigger? The video? Well the pyro-helmet and animation so lovingly date it. It rewards repeat viewings, as it zigs and zags between tones.

Toto? Of course Toto. Why the hell not? And let's put those other songs to the side. All cheese, all filling, all good. But, hands down, the song to beat is "Africa." Never has anyone had the courage to try this pretzel of a rhyming trick:

The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what's right
Sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti

Company . . . and Serengeti?!!? Really? That takes guts. But, when a group of dudes with white-fros decides they are going to bless water in Africa, what else would you expect?

On a side (final) note: nice to see The Quireboys out there giving us a bit of what we fancy. Another lost band, that did the whole LA Guns thing, at least aesthetically, better and more realistically (Phil wishes he were Spike).

On a side (and really final) note: those "only in . . ." notations under MC and P make me laugh out loud. They should really draw in the crowds. If not for Sweden Rock, no Dragonaut! But try the mëatbälls.

Ha! HIM, if I hit it big, you're on the G5 join' over there, plus we'll throw a Pre-Party with Electric Boys, Hardcore Superstar, Crash Diet and Reckless Love on the bill!

As far as TOTO goes, let's face it -- what a laff those nerds are headliners of this festival.

I mean, just look at the top three logos of the poster...

It looks like a typo made of gold bullion!

I'm gonna hold you to it, Metalboy!

And that typo comment did make me laugh.
