Steel Panther Release New Video

Surprise! Steel Panther just dropped a video for their song "Pussywhipped" from their new album All You Can Eat. I literally have nothing to add - learn everything you need to know about this one by watching the clip. If you're lucky, you'll catch Steel Panther on tour with Judas Priest. The tour isn't coming anywhere near me, but if you get a chance to see both bands on the same bill, take it!

Pretty much what one would expect, whether you like it or not. But not, in my opinion, as good as the "Glory Hole" video.

And, at the risk of sounding a bit out of sorts, I am not sure how I feel about the ending. But leaving a woman bruised and confused--whether it be by fist or bolts of lightning out of one's fingers--is off-putting to me.

I say that as a person who enjoys pretty aggressive humor (see "Glory Hole" above; see also Daniel Tosh or Sarah Silverman). So perhaps this is my "pot meet kettle" moment. I dunno.

Final thoughts/segue: it is funny to read how some people, attending the first Priest show, were up in arms about Steel Panther and their lyrical content (the rest of the critical noise seems to be, yet again and as it was with the Crue, an issue of "first show" difficulties and/or a seemingly horrid venue). I suppose some siloed fans of Priest can't handle such "in your face" tomfoolery. They prefer the subtle shadings of "Ram it Down," "Eat Me Alive," and "Hell Bent for Leather."

To all those going (I wish I was), enjoy the evening. Sounds like Priest is going to do well by their legacy with the set list and the snippets I have seen. Halford seems to be working within his range, the new additions and subtractions make perfect sense to me, and the new set seems to be a stripped down one that focuses the show on what matters, the band (taking advantage of the new HD screens that other bands, like Megadeth, have been using as of late).

For those that don't like (or know?) Steel Panther, arrive late I guess. I count it as a mark of Halford's loyalty (and sense of humor) that he brought them out on this tour. Nice to see he hasn't forgotten Parrish, and also to see people like Saenz getting a chance to have a bit of time in the spotlight after all these years.

I thought the video was kind of cute. The end didn't bug me at all. I thought any violence portrayed was totally tongue in cheek.

And I am lucky enough to have second row seats for the show this Tuesday night with my BFF Carolyne and we both can not wait. I love both of theses bands so it will be an enjoyable show. Having seen both of them before, I know what I am in for and am beyond excited.

Priest is easily my favorite METAL Band.

I saw them at the louder than life festival, here on sat. While they were funny with their lyrics and jokes, its hard for me to take their music seriously. They were funny though, and finally getting to see Priest...was legendary. Now if i can just see Sabbath, my concert bucket list will be complete!

I'm in the same boat, BK... I have somehow stupidly never seen SABBATH and it's not like I didn't have the chance!

On the other hand, I actually don't think Steel Panther is all that funny but really like their music, as they ape the whole 80's Hair Metal Sound to a T.

Sorry, I know you don't like the term "Hair Metal", but that's what they'll tell you they are doing.

p.s. BK, if you're still reading this thread, how did Halford sound? Any feedback (hahaha!!!) on Halford's singing and performance would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

I thought he sounded great. Not as great as he once was, but still miles ahead of the pack. At least imho. I wish he wouldve done Painkiller though. Which are one one of the songs he doesnt feel comfortable doing anymore, which i can definitely respect. The band was awesome though, Halford is after all....The Metal God.

WOW, BK! Exactly what I hoped to hear and WILL hear from Halford when I see 'em.

Interestingly, there's fairly recent YouTube footage showing Priest doing "Painkiller" with Halford just nailing it.

Unless this is a recent concern of his, maybe there's still a shot at them doing it and The Metal God nailing it!

Congrats on crossing one of the essential bands off your list, Bkallday. Glad to hear the concert was a good one. And I heard the same thing about "Painkiller" after their last tour. In recent interviews Halford has done a really nice job of explaining his approach to singing these days. It is just nice to see him moving around a bit better than those last few tours where he was clearly in so much pain on the stage.

But the set-list, though shorter (no "Jawbreaker") that some this tour given the festival I assume, looked great. One question: how did "Turbo Lover" sound? I have never heard them do that one live (in one instance I think I used that as my "drink and loo" break).

And to both Bkallday and Metalboy! . . . no Sabbath yet?!!? I was lucky enough to see them with Ward still in tow. But if this new album--and let's hope Iommi's health holds up--spawns a tour, you both can't go wrong even if you just go for watching Iommi and Ward.

I hope you come through with a review for Priest, Metalboy! I also think you would provide an interesting perspective on a live performance, Bkallday. Though we tend to disagree, I can't fault your passion (and it now seems we share a love of at least two bands!).

The whole Steel Panther thing? Still like the music, and enjoy the humor more live. Not sure why the end of the video struck me oddly. Just glad they are getting their due.

OK. Not sure if anyone will see this but the show was amazing. Loved, loved, loved it. Only wish both bands had longer sets.

Rob sounded amazing. And he hit a lot of high notes and was obviously pleased with himself after each one. Loved seeing him walking around a lot, unlike as you said Him, the last couple of times where he was hunched over in pain.

And they did play Jawbreaker and Turbo Lover sounded awesome live. So glad they played it. No Painkiller though.

Go see the show if you can. You will not be disappointed. And I love the fact that Steel Panther asked the audience how many people know who they are and how many people still hate them. Ofcourse, a lot of people said they did. But they don't care. They were cool with that because everyone there is a Judas Priest fan, which is great.

I thought I first wrote it here, but I guess I'm wrong. But to me, mb's disdain for steel panther parallels my disdain for pink floyd. I get both equally. totally and completely. I guess to sum it up very simply. PF = 'the rules' SP = 'defies the rules' but we all play by them.
