Is Def Leppard Touring America This Summer?

Def Leppard is touring Canada and Europe this spring and summer, but what about U.S. dates?

Later on in the summer, the Leps will be joined by Styx and Tesla for a show at the Minnesota State Fair. That date is August 27. They will also play the Great Allentown Fair on September 1. While no more US dates have officially been announced, I expect more soon. After all, Def Leppard loves the summer shed tours - and I love to go see them play live!

I'd be up to see them but with Poison or somebody more notable than their current opening acts. Too bad they have to haul all THAT dead weight around!

Styx and Tesla are NOT part of the Canadian and European tours.

Thankfully!

I got to thinking wouldn't it be cool if Def Leppard put a new or newish band or two on their tour much like Priest did with Steel Panther.

Even if it was The Darkness. Granted, they're not that new but would totally make sense since Def Leppard, particularly Joe Elliot, are such fervant 70's Glam Rock freaks and that is The Darkness' stock and trade.

Others they should bring along are Hardcore Superstar, Crash Diet or Reckless Love, the latter in some ways a Def Leppard, Jr. in their style and delivery, which would certainly go over well with the Def Leppard audience.

Even though I assume AIG is calling the shots (as they do with everything these days, Def Leppard is probably one of the few legacy acts still around with enough clout to get those bands on the bill.

Yes, Cindy is correct about Tesla and Styx. I misread Ticketmaster. Corrected the post.
And yes, I agree with Metalboy! that AEG calls all the shots now (with all the bigger bands we love) so whomever they dictate as the package will hit the road I suppose, fan wishes be damned. - Allyson

Acdc has just destroyed at the Grammys!! They opened with Rock or Bust followed by Highway to Hell.

I was grinning from ear to ear!! The usual a stats love them. Dave Grohl, Lady Gaga. Also Blake Shelton and Katy Perry.

Great moment for hard rock/metal.

Indeed, Kixchix, it was great watching Angus and the boys melt that audience's faces off!

Gotta hand it to The Academy for opening the show with epic REAL Rock & Roll of the highest order. Too bad it all went downhill from there especially when Kanine Pest (aka Kanye West) showed zero class (surprise, surprise), "jokingly" revisiting his Taylor Swift moment from a couple years back by disrupting Beck's acceptance speech for "Album of the Year", something he obviously thought Beyoncé should have run away with. Regardless, this proves West is an A*SS with NO CLASS beyond compare!

Got my tickets for the Minnesota State Fair. Don't worry Metalboy! I'll be sure to hit the beer stands during the dead weight portion of the show. I have to laugh when you think Poison would set the bar so much higher than Styx/Tesla. Bret will be down the street at the Beer, Wine, and Cheese Fest playing the same 10 song set he's played for the last 5 years now. And the rest of the guys ?!?! follow them on twitter, see how much that rocks.

I'll tell you who would open the show should Leppard tour the States...if it's not another 70's/80's nostalgia act, it's whoever is willing to pay the $$$ to buy-on.

Whether Vivian is back or not, they should really throw Trixter a bone and take them out, as I know Steve Brown could pull double duty if he had to.

Trixter, Tesla or Styx? Puleez! Yeah, Poison foisting the same ol same ol' is STILL more Rock and Roll than those 70's/80's AOR Legacy acts you guys mention.

I also said, if not Poison, get The Darkness. They've toured with Def Leppard and are all personal friends. I dunno who the h*ll you get but please, NO TESlUGH!

p.s. GNR! It's good to know you will at least be swillin' brewskies during the LAME-O part of the show, which will be most of it including parts of Def Leppard's, quite honestly. I mean, let's face it, though Elliot's voice is sounding better than during recent previous tours, they're not exactly what they used to be, either!

They're in Allentown (like 40 miles from me) the day after my birthday on Sept 1st. Sounds like a possible birthday present to myself. Lol
