Snowy, Winter Day

Happy Sunday, friends. It's been snowing all weekend here in southern Ohio. In fact, we got more than anticipated overnight. I was pretty disheartened when I looked outside. This is a great day to stay inside and listen to some music and relax. Eric and I are actually working on a little house project so we'll probably turn on Hair Nation while we do that - it's pretty much our go-to when doing construction work.

Do you have any favorites you like to crank when the weather sucks? I always like to pretend it's summer. Pretty much all glam bands, save Cinderella, remind me of summer. Cinderella definitely has that winter vibe. But if you want to feel warm, it's great to put on some David Lee Roth or Poison and pretend you're at a festival somewhere, looking for a tree to beat the heat.

But if you want to stay in the moment... there is no better album than Cinderella's Long Cold Winter. One of the best of our favorite era, actually.

One of my all-time favorite records. I saw them in Toronto with White Lion on the Long Cold Winter tour. It was a warm, clear night and I still have a vivid memory of the riff from Last MIle filling the stadium and just sounding so damn great.

Indeed, Allyson and Bryon, an absolute classic of the genre!

Though I was fortunate to see them 4 times, including the last show they ever played on The Monsters of Rock Cruise several years ago.

p.s. I think “The Last Mike” is my favorite track off “Long Cold Winter”!

I think I've seen Cinderella live as often as I have Poison and Motley Crue. I have "Long Cold Winter" on cassette autographed by the band, and picked up "Night Songs" on vinyl a couple of years ago. They are never top-of-mind when discussing great hair metal acts, but they should be. An all-time classic band.

Come to think of it, the title track off _Night Songs_ rips. They petered out a bit after _Heartbreak Station_ with _Still Climbing_, even if they were going in a direction that seemed to suit them.

But their stuff rocks. Even Cinderella's commercial for Pat's Chili Dogs! Another slice of time never to be repeated.
