I Look Forward To My Free Tickets

Mick Mars promises us all free tickets to the big Motley Crue reunion. I'm down for free. Who else?

3 Things: 1) Yes. Who doesn't love free tickets ?? If you can produce a ticket stub from the last tour, you should qualify :) 2) I miss That Metal Show, even though the hosts could grate on you a bit, I do miss it. 3) That's Mick Mars 5 years ago...

A lot of people were pointing to Vince and Tommy as potential weak links in the reunion but for me it was Mick's health. I know on the farewell tour he looked terrible. Those "old" bones need some rest I hope he has had time in the last few years to potentially strengthen his core to support just being on stage for two hours a night.

That spine disease is a killer and wish him the absolute best in life.

I was talking to a friend just yesterday about Mick's health and how it would relate to a lengthy tour. It would not surprise me in the least if after the tour dates are released, the tickets go on sale and are on sale for a few months then determine that Mick is too ill to tour and a replacement announced. Get lots of tickets sold even though they know he's too sick to tour. Or possibly just tell the fans that he can't start the tour but join at a later date and just keep kicking the can down the road. Probably won't happen but at least a decent possibility. With that scenario arises a question, would Crue fans be able to accept any other guitarist ? And who might that guitarist it be ??

In all fairness to Mick, the tickets will be free for the upcoming stadium tour. Unfortunately, parking will be $175 a person.

@Gogmagog. Now that’s funny 😂😂👍

Who would the guitarist be? Great question, JCD!

Though might not be something one would wish on Mötley Crüe as any classically lined-up band (as if there is one), who might possibly suffer such a loss, just imagine who might have to replace Mars ...

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Rick Nielsen!

Oh, Metalboy! You ole scallywag! We already know who the replacement will be.

Cheap? Loves attention? Stirs up fanboys who like a good knock off? Tries so hard to be real and comes off as anything but?

I hereby announce the introduction of DJAsshat!!! Only difference in appearance: floppy hat as opposed to top (hat).

Like you, I kid. And I hope and pray (for those that care) that the taciturn axemaster is healthy enough to play the shows. If they are going to do this thing, might as well include him.

Hmm ... replacement guitarist ... interesting question.

Let’s go with Tommy Henriksen (Alice Cooper). Got the look and guitar feel of Mick. Plus Alice’s drummer has already gigged with the crue, so ....

If Mick is unable, the tour wouldnt be the same.

If Live Nation is putting up $150 million, I'm sure the contract states that all must be in good health to perform (i.e Michael Jackson) and the leaks that came out regarding Vince's weight and ability to "dance" around the stage. The last time I saw Judas Priest (actually come to think of it, the only time I saw Judas Priest), I had a seat that was able to see behind one of the speaker cabinets. After every song (singing part), Rob Halford went behind the speaker and was hooked up to oxygen as the rest of the played out the song. Also, Meatloaf used to do this in a lot of the later shows I saw of him. Mick Mars, goodness bless him, but I'm sure he'll be pumped up with steroids before each show and the tour will have a "Band Doctor" on tour with them. Damn Prima Donnas.

But for speculative purposes, I'd say that Tracii Guns could be the hired "gun", as he was in Brides of Destruction. Or...how 'bout Richie Sambora? He isn't doing much these days...

Agreed the tour will happen with Mick ... but the speculation is fun. Tracii Guns would be a good pick!

Actually LA Guns would be the perfect 4th band

What a concept have a revolving door of guest slots -- Father Zaklk for a few then Kirk Hammet, Let CC do double duty on a few. Phil Collen on a few -- make it real interesting just select guest spots or let Mick pick all of his replacements etc..

Mick can play guitar fine. He has a bad back.

The weak link is Vince, and has been for 20 years. One of the reasons they should stay retired.

With all the supposed "new fans" garnered from The Dirt exposure, you would think people expect to hear "Take Me To The Top", "Piece Of Your Action" etc., but these songs won't be played and it isn't because of Mick's health, it's 100% because of their singer.

When Crüe started their "greatet hits tour" in 1999, they had a 20 song set at the beginning of the tour. They were down to 12 songs by the last show. Mick, Nikki and Tommy were willing and able to play 20 songs, but the band kept cutting songs because Vince couldn't keep up (no wonder Tommy left at the and of that run)

PS - as much as Tracii Guns would be the ideal candidate should anything prevent Mick from participating with Crüe, it will never happen.

Nikki had intended for Tracii Guns to be the 'safety net' for Crüe's 2005 comeback but Tommy didn't want any "80s guys", and voted to get Dave Navarro onboard (funny how touring with 80s bands DL and Poison is fine now?)...

Tracii jammed Crüe tunes with Nikki and Vince Neil at the Whiskey in 2003 before THAT reunion thing got serious, and even co-wrote "Sick Live Song" for the Red, White and Crüe release.

Eventually Tracii pissed off Nikki, by shit talking the single "If I die Tomorrow" (written by the French Canadian pop-punk band Simple Plan, who cut it from their Bob Rock produced album "Still Not Getting Any"); I doubt we will be seeing any more collaboration between Nikki SIXX and Tracii Guns.

MICK will be there. But since we’re playing fill that spot, my personal pick would be Warren DeMartini...

I presume Corabi will take over 👍🏻
November 22, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterBadland
You had me laughing, Badland. Corabi is great (I know, I know . . . I am a fanboy). Thing is, three fourths of the band has no issue with him. But Liza does. So that's a no go, right? You aren't going to get that sorta' stuff past the chairman. After all, he also hires the outside writers and is there to order Vince to use a crescent wrench when Tommy's Tilt-A-Whirl gets stuck mid-whoosh.

Mike, great post. One thing though: "Mick can play guitar fine. He has a bad back." No, he doesn't have a 'bad back'. He has Ankylosing Spondylitis. That's like calling emphysema a 'bad cough'. I've been fairly close to one person (and knew another) who had AS. That stuff is the real deal, and real painful, and a curse you wouldn't wish on even Liza.

That said, I suspect, and as fletch intimates, that the contract is well detailed re: any and all issues that might transpire, including the health of another member of the band. Cyborg Nation doesn't put up a huge amount of cash just to watch the balloon pop. They got that stuff locked down tight!

Gary: Warren, sitting at home, bong on the table, thoughtfully biting a Mars Bar.

Who the h*ll is Liza, HIM?!
November 23, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
As in Minnelli.

As in Frank Carlton Serafino Feranna Jr.

I suppose I could have gone with Joyce DeWitt. But that felt a bit too low a lob, even for me.

Hope you are doing well, Metalboy!
November 24, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterHim
That is batsh*t crazy, HIM!

Are you sure you’re not being impersonated by John Belushi’s brother characterizing Sixx as similar to Minnelli.

Doesn’t he seem to be a little closer in appearance to Elizabeth Taylor in her more portly phase?
