'Separate Ways' -- Live

When a live recording sounds as good as (or better!) than the studio version, you know you're listening to true lyrical talent!

I posted the official video of Daughtry and Lzzy Hale's cover of Journey's "Separate Ways (World's Apart)" a couple months back. Now there is an official live video of the song. Lzzy Hale joined Daughtry on stage at their concert last week at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The performance was shot professionally and the result is below. Good stuff.

I had to reread that post a few times, Allyson. At first, I thought you were suggesting that Hzzy Lale and Vic Vegas sounded better than the original. That's on me. Me no good reader.

Once my discomfited, illiterate, self settled down (a hug pillow really does the trick), I was able to compose the following: it surely does! I commented that I liked the original version of the cover that you posted. Well, liked it well enough. I think this would likely be an amazing live experience, and I say that as someone who doesn't listen to Vegas or Lale a lot. But I do admire this cover.

Only thing that sorta' bums me out is that ending. Not sure that 'drill sergeant march' does anything to improve the song or the good job they are both doing. And I didn't mind the guitars as much this time. Again, live music, done well, is always an experience.

Thanks for sharing this with us, Allyson. Hope everyone has a good Sunday!

[Side-bar: I also think you are praising their 'vocal' talents, and not their 'lyrical' prowess, given that they didn't write a licked scrap of this song. Just saying.]
