So Was Sheriff Glam or Not?

Sheriff, the short-lived Canadian group, was played on Sirius 80s on 8 the other day. Of course it was the band's biggest hit (a number one!) "When I'm With You." The song is your quintessential power ballad. The band members couldn't get along and broke up, and that was it for Sheriff.

"When I'm With You" has all the hallmarks of a Glam tune. Maybe Sheriff came out just a little too early to really strike it big because they formed in 1979. Their self-titled debut came out in 1982. The band also never made a formal video for "When I'm With You."

So what do you think about Sheriff? Glam or not?

I'm gonna go with a no on them being glam. I'm getting more of an REO Speedwagon vibe.

based on this one song - which today is the first time i recall ever hearing it - i gotta say not glam. not bad, but more supertramp/reo than glam.

Reading this post I’m like “was is in a coma when this was #1?”. Then I heard the chorus. Boom. I wasn’t. Phew.

Not glam. ‘80’s previous posters ELH & Stu are spot on with a little John Waite Bad English thrown in
