Happy Sunday Funday

I had a very busy day yesterday including a tax appointment. After that long appointment I just happened to see the post below and I laughed harder than I should have, I'm sure. On a music related note, I can log in to Discogs on my laptop... and not my phone. Same password of course. Make it make sense!

Since I was gone all day yesterday, all the weekend chores fall to today and that means I'm scrambling. I'll probably put on some Steely Dan while folding laundry. I can hear Eric listening to Metal downstairs while he repaints walls. I hope you have a Sunday Funday and get a little rest if possible!

'Lunatic Fringe' - Going Through My Head

For whatever reason I've had "Lunatic Fringe" going through my head the past couple of days. The song is by Red Rider and you surely know it. Thing is, I haven't personally listened to the song in... forever. It was a little disconcerting to wake up to the chorus going through my head over and over each day this past week.

Earlier today, I finally played the song on YouTube so I could listen to it all the way through. Maybe I won't wake up to it in the morning. I have to admit, I wouldn't mind owning As Far As Siam (1981) on vinyl. That album features "Lunatic Fringe" in all its weird and amazing glory. That guitar solo!

WEBN in Cincinnati has used the song as a theme for decades now because they are the "lunatic fringe of American FM." Still, I haven't listened to WEBN in ages because I have SiriusXM.

Maybe I've been reading too much Stephen King? Maybe it's just the nutty world we live in now. No matter, "Lunatic Fringe" is a hell of a catchy song and probably way underrated as far as 80s rock is concerned.

Wait! There's A New RATT Book!

I didn't know about this but I am excited! Greg Prato has written a book about RATT called World Infestation. The book came out the first of this month and is getting good reviews. You better believe I added this bad boy to my Kindle as soon as I learned of its existence. Expect a review soon! (But I have to finish my current Stephen King first).

AC/DC Announce Gold Vinyl Reissues

I just need to keep telling myself "You don't need these records. You don't need these records." Still, it is very cool. To celebrate 50 years as a band, AC/DC will reissue their entire catalog on gold vinyl.

The albums are around $30 each and are available for pre-order now via the AC/DC website or Walmart. They ship next month.

Another Crashdiet Member Change

This poor band. Crashdiet has just undergone yet another member change at the singer position. Gabriel Keyes has left the band and has been replaced by John Elliot.

The most important thing here is that Peter London and Michael Sweet remain the core of the band. The band has some European shows coming in the next few months and also perform on the Monsters of Rock Cruise next month.
