Mr. Sixx Goes to Washington

Tomorrow I will review The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star by Nikki Sixx. I was smart and pre-ordered a hardback copy and I was pleased to find the Amazon.com box waiting on my front step Monday afternoon.

Last Thursday, Nikki Sixx spoke about addiction on Capitol Hill. He was an invited speaker of NAADAC (National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors). At first, Nikki was clearly nervous but quickly relaxed. He spoke off the cuff about his crazy past as a wild rock star and junkie. I'm trying to not be jaded about all of this. Sixx says he wants to help kids and since he's a parent, I want to believe his motives are genuine. At any rate, his Capitol Hill talk was from the heart and thankfully short. Here's the video:

I've just read that Tommy has left the Crue, over this ongoing lawsuit. Mick is sick, Vince is cruising and Nikki is doing solo albums, I wonder if they all saw this coming ?

Having said that, I am looking forward to this CD, after your review. Lynam is in there too, also in response to your review.

I'm sure glad I got to see the Crue, twice in fact, if they are split, I wonder if they will ever get back together. I suspect that Mick isn't up for it anymore, the shows I saw were certainly structured around him getting frequent rests.

Allyson,
I can't wait for your review. I too have the book in my motley little hands and can't wait to finish it. I will say, I don't believe 100% of Nikki's "diary", but if it is true...WOW. If it is fabricated, the guy is a super fiction writer. It just worries me that Nikki wrote this in hopes of it becoming this generations "On the Road."

Motley Crue is so not over. They have broken up countless times before but they always come back. The crue will never be over, dude. Nikki Sixx is a fucking god and may only great things come his way. He deserves the entire world and with his new book and CD he WILL probably conquer the entire world.

If you disagree with me than FUCK YOU!!!!!

Defently not the best public speaker, but had a good point. I suppose when he says addiction is a disease he's right, albeit a self-inflicted one. And I wouldn't quite compare it to cancer, he should stick to the creative side, music, poetry, photography, writing. Much more talented at that.
