Slash and Fergie at Super Bowl XLV

Slash and Fergie perform a bit of "Sweet Child O' Mine" during the Super Bowl halftime show. I was not impressed - Fergie sounds off key. But here it is in case you missed it live:

Worst Super Bowl halftime performance ever. Bring back The Who, The Stones, Prince, Tom Petty, Michael Jackson - somebody good for crying out loud.

Fergie is always off key, live, unless they remember to pack her digital voice prosthetics. Apparently, they didn't, but hey, at least she got the lyrics right. She's one up on Christina Aguilera.

And was that really Slash, or a Disneyland audio-animatronic figure of him? It was a little tough to tell. I mean, the last time I saw him live was with GnR back in 1992, so I guess 20 years really takes a lot of mobility from you...

All in all, about as lousy a halftime show as anyone could have anticipated.

Stephen, the Stones were 10x worse when they did halftime. I wasn't thrilled this year, either though, and I'm a fan of BEP and Slash.

Wow, I'm sorry to have to say this but she wasn't kinda out of key she was light years out of key and it wasn't just her either. All the members of B.E.P. had some serious problems with staying in key. You'd think they were amatures and never performed live before.

Ok I just watched the whole show and here is my verdict. The worst I've seen, ever. I've seen um since the wardrobe malfunction and this is the worst.

Just for fun heres a short list of Big name artists that I think would do a way better job.

1.JUDAS 'FRIGGIN' PRIEST!!!
2.Van Halen
3.Iron Maiden
4.Disturbed
5.KISS

All of these artists have been significant in the past year so People would knwo them. Also though here is a list of artists probably no one would remember but still be 100x better than this.

1. Exciter
2. W.A.S.P.
3. The new King Kobra lineup
4. Railway
5. Nitro

Yes I said Nitro and Railway :P . I still ahven't watched the actual game yet! I couldn't get a stream over here in Austria but they should haved taped in on main campus and they'll show it tonight nobody spoil the results for me PLEASE!

Oh my. I didn't watch the Super Bowl, so I'm just now watching this performance. Ouch. Not only was she off key, but her phrasing was awful. Yuck.

I dug Slash's outfit.

I actually enjoyed the futuristic motif of the whole thing, but Shadow is right, they should have someone like Van Halen.

Black Eyed Peas aren't really my bag, but they got the hits so they were a logical choice and probably more relevant than most of our heroes, unfortunately, to the Super Bowl crowd.

That said, here's an idea...

Since so much of our music gets played during the games, and has been consistently throughout the years, why don't they do a medley of some of the most widely played songs from the list (Who goes to a lot of games and can tell me that list, by the way? My memory escapes me...).

So, those in charge of halftime entertainment would get Steel Panther as the back up band and have different singers and guitarists dash on together.

It could start with Ozzy and Zack popping on to do "Crazy Train". Then Vince and Nikki could pop on to do "Kickstart My Heart" and then roll into Page and Plant doing "Whole Lotta Love". Something like that.

Of course, really what they should do is get a Journey reunion together, as they are so hot right now. "Don't Stop Believin'" gets cranked at every game of the season. Journey's music constantly played on the radio, featured in commercials and is a staple of "American Idol" and "Glee", etc..

Imagine the hugeness of getting Steve Perry reunited with the boys on the Super Bowl? That would be their ticket to launch a subsequent tour, as well.

Well, here's to Shadow for dreamin' of putting Nitro on during halftime. Killarious! Have 'em open their set with "Freight Train", hahaha!!! OTSK! Too bad it could never happen in a million years.

I thought this was the worse half time Super Bowl show of all time. They absolutely sucked!!!! Whoever came up with this lame brain band ought to be flogged and run out of town.

I was not impressed, although I have to agree with Metal boy - I dug Slash's outfit.

I dig the whole medley idea Metalboy! but really Gus-Gus's version of Crazy Train is eons better than Zakk's it so much cleaner!

You like that Nitro reference? What better way to describe a Superbowl halftime thatn O.F.R.!!! LOL

Don't know about Journey though, as great as Be good to Yourself and I'll be alright without you would sound live after all these years. Slash kinda looked disinterested to me.

Hopefully the backlash from this performance with have whomever is in charge of halftime next year,(probably Bridgestone again, the've done it for the past five years now) thinking more along the lines of what we're coming up with here.

I like the medley idea -- there's enough mainstream appeal there to make it appealing, and the artists are all too old to be considered dangerous anymore, which is key to playing to the world on that stage. The Super Bowl will only ever play mainstream rock from oldtimers, or harmless pop from young kids. The chances of seeing anyone like Judas Priest, Disturbed, etc. is a pipe dream. I could see Kiss doing it. tho.

But still, as much as I'm not a BEP fan, I thought they were fine. They played their hits, they had an entertaining stage show, and it was fun.

Loving the top hat. Pretty cool stage set-up as well. That is about all I have to say that is positive. Was not digging the "Yeah" and "heys" during the solo.

@longhairedrocker - If Iron Maiden played, I would expect the world was coming to an end. That would be so epic. Van Halen would be a more likely choice and I would have loved to see something of VH1.

Ha! Nice Spence! And now introducing the AFC conference champions the Oakland Raiders! "over the loudspeakers: "You take my life but I'll take yours Too!"

Awesome!

I am a rocker...but I actually liked the half time show. very unique and when Slash came out...Hey..that was awesome. It def. says something about our music! People still love it!!!!!

Yeah it sucked... Bigtime. My question is.. What was Slash thinking when he agreed to that?

Yeah.. I know...it's the Superbowl halftime show with millions watching around the world. Just seemed like a bad idea from the beginning. I guess that is why I'm not too surprised at the outcome.

Myself And My Son Are Not Bigtime Super Bowl FAns , but That Has To Be The WORST THING I EVER SAW!! I Don't Understand What Slash Was Thinking When He Agreed To That..GnR Are AWSOME, ..SLash Is AWSOME.....Just Leave It Alone, The Way It Should Be
