DJ Ashba Joins Fight Against Bullying

SIXX: AM and Guns n' Roses guitarist DJ Ashba recently shared an emotional story of his past, revealing that he was physically and mentally abused by his father. Ashba left home at 16. Now he wants to turn his negative experience into a positive by becoming an anti-bullying advocate.

Ashba revealed his abuse history on the website bullyville.com. He'll serve as a spokesperson for the site.

“Instead of a hug and a kiss, my morning wakeup call consisted of my dad’s fist coming through my closet door, similar to Jack Nicholson in the Shining. The craziest part about all of this is I spent my youth years constantly trying to gain his respect,” Ashba writes.

He goes on to explain that the fear was so extreme, he would nearly wet his pants. He hid in his closet, trying to avoid his abusive dad. I think it's great that DJ is using his platform as a musician to help kids.

Know whatchya mean, Fletch.

And I'm with ya for DJ Ashba.

No doubt, the current release, "Bully", also contributed toward Ashba taking action.

We should all do something to curtail the mindless act of bullying which continues to be so prevalent in our society particularly the way it is systematically tolerated in our society.

How about this, Fletch?!...

Ashba should get Axl to go to one local High School in every town they play to perform a couple of acoustic numbers and talk about Bullying with the student body. I bet he'd show up in time for those shows if he took him up on it. Not only would it do wonders for the kids but also Axl himself.

However, now that I think about it, I guess because of Rose's explicit lyrics, it could never happen. Maybe he and Ashba can at least write a song about it.

I agree. But, I think he would be tolerated in schools considering the professional athletes that schools have give speeches despite their indiscrestions. DJ- listen to MB and see if axl would take you up on the offer. You guys could do so much good together to combat this problem.
