Looks Like Juan Croucier Will Join RATT At M3

Did hell freeze over? According to Bravewords, bassist Juan Crocier will perform with RATT at the M3 music festival next month in Columbia, Maryland.

You might recall that bassist Robbie Crane quit RATT about a month ago.

So does this mean Juan is officially back in the band? Or will the M3 gig be a trial run? There seems to be a lot of hatchets to bury between the guys in RATT and Juan, but I wish them well. I think it would be great if Juan joins the band again. Thoughts?

Well, it only took the better part of two decades for this to happen. I wouldn't hold my breath until they actually walk on stage. There is a lot of bad blood between Stephen and Juan. Also Bobby and Juan. It would be great to see a tour and new album with Juan. They have missed his backing vocals for a long time.

Like Ace (check out his cross-referenced post on the Crane departure), this is a bit of surprise to me as well. And, like I said when Crane left, this adds a bit more nostalgic heft to the Ratt show.

One off or long term, this will be interesting if for no other reason than the dynamics in the band. I hope Ratt can continue to build off the success of _Infestation_.

To me, this puts them closer to headliner level for M3. It's the classic lineup sans Robbin Crosby who obviously can't rejoin (RIP), God Bless his Rock'n'Roll Soul. That said, their replacement for him going on several years, Carlos Cavazo, is no slouch.

As former lead guitarist of Quiet Riot and now firmly established second guitarist (in title only) in Ratt, Cavazo gives DiMartini a run (quite literally) for his money every night. AND he even writes songs, having contributed to "Infestation".

Kudos to all concerned for getting Crocier back. Axl take note. Just as was possible for G'n'R the other night, for all intensive purposes, "Ratt Classic" is back.

As Pearcy had mentioned to Chump on "That Metal Show" last season, the band has been writing and recording a follow up to "Infestation". Let's hope Crocier gets in on it, too, as it's more than apparent, based on his first round with Ratt, he can more than well contribute his fair share to that process.

As long as Pearcy duzn't go through the motions as he's been known to do in the past, ya got a REAL potential festival stealer here.

LOL..Funny whan I mentioned that Crane didn't 'quit' a great gig like Ratt,,but maybe was 'asked to leave' because Juan maybe wanted back in..I was RIDICULED by some here,,including his 'close friend' that this would NEVER HAPPEN!!! This was so obvious on month ago,,so obvious Ray Charles could have seen it!!!!

We will not know if this is a good thing or a bad thing until after the fact. How long will Juan rehearse with Ratt before this happens? Will they play newer songs from "Infestation" with Juan on bass? Will they get along long enough to even play this show? How long has it been since Juan has played?

A lot of questions here... We will have to wait for the answers.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks that this isn't that big or a deal.

Ward! Was that Crane I saw with Lynch Mob on The Monsters of Rock Cruise? He was killer! And he tried to get Lynch to play "It's Not Love", clearly Dokken's best song, instead of "Tooth And Nail", which was still awesome. I think George had the set list changed at the last minute because he didn't think the singer could handle it.

Jimbo! You didn't hear me questioning your intel. It seemed like common sense to me.

Look, people mellow. Crocier will be glad to be back and so will Ratt be glad to have him back! And Croucier will be happy to play whatever they choose to play off "Infestation".

Crane's great but ya gotta go with as many original members as you can, if the opportunity presents itself, so it's great to see all parties worked it out to make it happen.

We'll see how long this lasts.. The members of Ratt are not traveling to M3 together. Some will be in Columbia on Thursday night others Friday and Saturday.

Yes! That was Robbie Crane with Lynch Mob on the Monsters of Rock Cruise back in February. I talked with Robbie for several minutes on the ship and he told me that he left RATT in August 2010 after RATT's run of shows with the Scorpions. He seemed to be very happy with his current gig with Lynch Mob. Robbie is a great guy; the friendliest, nicest rock musician you'll ever meet.
