Manraze, 'I Surrender' -- Lyric Video

Manraze, the side project of Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen, just released a lyric video for the track "I Surrender."

I'm trying to dig this band, but I don't know how I feel about this song. What do you think?

Hmmm, there's nothing wrong with the song, but there's not really anything right about it either. It just kind of sits there like an idling car that never goes anywhere. I will say that the style and timbre of the guitar solo is a little out of place with the mellow groove of the rest of the song. Is Phil trying to inject some life into the song with that solo, or does he not have the range to pull off something more mellow that would fit better?

Love Def Leppard, love Manraze. This song reminds me a little of the "Hysteria" vibe. Overall, Manraze have a lot of diverse material. Punky, fast, Police-influenced stuff. Phil recorded guitars and vocals for this track on his laptop, so that's very cool.

Love Phil's guitar playing. I have since the first time I heard GIRL. I just can't seem to get in to Manraze. I've tried.
