'Just Like Paradise' Dance Remix

I don't know how I missed this, but apparently David Lee Roth's "Just Like Paradise" was remixed into a dance track. I heard it for the first time at the gym last night. I couldn't believe it and nearly pasted my ear to one of the wall speakers. It's kind of catchy in an annoying sort of way.

Call me the oddball out, but this is the reason I don't think you can truly call it music unless you're in a band playing and doing it live. This shows that most anyone with software, can make a hot steaming pile of crap. And don't get me started on celebrity DJs - Shitbull, etc. - are you kidding me. When someone calls them talented a look at them with my best 'really?' look. ha ha Sorry to rant, but as a Dave and VH fan - this is an abomination! (especially with having Fair Warning on full blast to and from work today) HA Peace Out

There have been cool remixes that have caught on with the dance crowd at some of the hottest spots in major cities and party places over the years.

I've seen hundreds dance to trances up versions of "Dr. Feelgood", "You Shook Me All Night Long", even "Black Betty" by Ram Jam, but this just doesn't cut it as every aspect of it just seems too amateurish.

It is a good idea, though, so maybe a legit DJ will attempt it again.

Atrocious. Horrifyingly BAD.

On the other end of the scale, the ONLY real bassist Van Halen ever had, Micheal Anthony, played the Whisky A GoGo w/ John5 this last week.

I watched with the sound off and it seemed alright.

They took my favorite DLR band song and Tommy Lee'd it. 😳 I will now go drink numerous beers and try to forget I ever heard that...

Let's face it, this song was cheesy when it came out, something the Van Halen Boys would never approve.

Funny, though, recast as a disco rave number, it could actually work, just not in this particular execution.

Me thinks none of you should take a listen to either of his Skitz Metal and Skitz Rocks CDs.

This Aussie isn't exactly an amateur or a flash in the pan either, nor one who is glomming onto the latest crest in the DJ world (like most genres, there are ebbs and flows). Part of his particular "thing" is doing exactly what this song does.

Me? No real problem with a person taking one style of music and merging it with another. Pet Shop Boys want to take a chance on the Village People's "In the Navy"? Fine by me. Ditto Erasure with U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name"? Go for it gents. You could go wider or narrower if you wanted to (and get a lot closer with some metal versions of other genres), but you get my point.

It might not be "playing" music. But Skitz is at least making it. Come to think of it, DLR isn't a singer. He is a vocalist. But now I am just splitting hairs on a bald man.

Imagine if DLR took some old standards and dressed them up in his style?!!? Man, the old coots would go nuts at the pomposity of it. And I bet Irvin Caesar's estate would threaten him with a lawsuit.

DLR made for dancing? Seems right to me.

. . . and, after a brief hiatus, I am back.

"Just Like Paradise" (original version) is a killer song!
It's 10x better than any Van Hagar song.
'Eat Em And Smile' & 'Skyscraper' are both classic glam metal CD's.

I'll give ya that, Jackie! Though "Just Like Paradise" is no Roth-era Van Halen song (mainly because of it's cheezefactor), it sure is a h*lluva lot better than ANY Van Hagar tune!

I'm still confused that you find "Just Like Paradise" to be a cheesy song.
If anything, I would consider the Van Halen song "Jump" as pretty cheesy compared to "Just Like Paradise" (is the oposite of cheesy to me).
I think it's just as good if not better than most Roth era Van Halen stuff.
Oh well whatever, nevermind!

At least we agree about the Van Hagar stuff!
:)
