Europe, 'War Of Kings' -- New Video

Europe just released a video for their single "War Of Kings." The single is from the forthcoming album by the same name. War Of Kings comes out next month.

Oh, man... Whoever thought AOR cheezemeisterz extraordinaire Europe would rise out of the ashes as a reed thin version of 70's style Deep Purple, except without the hooks or catchy vocal phrasings.

This falls so flat I'd find a visit to IHOP more entertaining than listening to this tripe ever again. As much as I can get semi-goose bumped nostalgic over "The Final Countdown" (Hell, Sabaton plays the iconic tune over the P.A. as intro music before taking the stage at every show) or "Carrie" as the next 80's Hair Metallist, the fact they're headlining M3 and The Monsters of Rock Cruise is a big reason why I think I'll sit those out this year.

p.s. The video is well produced, however, even if it is boring. And no matter how great a guitarist John Norum is, this reveals more blatantly than ever what horrendous poseurs these guys really are and have been all along, particularly, Joey Tempest.

If this sounded more like their Prisoners in Paradise album, I would like it much better. This is really bland and boring.

That keyboard player is a much bigger poser than Joey Tempest. In this video anyway.

Hopefully the rest of the CD is better than this.

I think it is pretty good. Looking forward to seeing them. Was not a big fan back in the day, but they seemed to have gotten a lot heavier. Another one off the list. Should be fun to see them at M3

I am with Metalboy on this one. They were decent back in the day but they are just boring now. They are garnering a lot of respect the last few albums "maturing" and "growth" musically, but I liked the glammy/AOR version of the band better.

this is okay, but I actually liked the slightly bluesy tinge to their last album better.

Rita, Metal Love of My Life, YOU are 110% correct about the keyboardist but Joey still wins in the poseur department as he's the front man and is glaringly posing mainly because of his nothing lyrics and cliche melodizing.

JAT is equally spot on with his insinuation that "maturing" and "growth" is actually code for "s*cks"!

And Bob snd Brian L, you're giving them way too much credit. The sad part is they're actually really talented but have never even come close to topping their multi-platinum third studio album, "The Final Countdown".

Metalboy! You are the best!

I'll give you that one. At least Joey Tempest has toned down the dance moves he used to rock in videos like Superstitious. Glad the Miami Vice suits are history too. That Superstitious video was glam posery at its finest.

The Final Countdown had a lot of great songs but Prisoners in Paradise also rocked. Listened to it today as this site is so great about reminding me about music I may not have listened to in a while.

hugs all around?

yeah right. I'm just getting started!

peace all. you, too!

BTW, I prefer Joan Jett's version- "Love is all around". No need to get intimate, now!

Really, Rita? I personally miss the Miami Vice suits, though, I, unfortunately, never had the chance to wear one, as I was a hapless victim of the Brooks Brothers, Ralph Lauren, Lacoste triumvirate my parents forced me into.

It was only by the early 90's to present day that I've indulged in head-to-toe 70's vintage.

That said, now that we see 80's Fashion trending again, Ighink Tempest should actually rock the Miami Vice look once again. I only wish their music would fit as well, too.

Its def no power ballad like photograph

Badlands, I think you mean like "Carrie", as you've already established "Photograph" is not a Powerballad and I fully admit I probably should not have it on my list for the same reason you wouldn't put "Winter's Call" on it.

That said, there are plenty of other PURE Powerballads on the list you should check out.
