Guns n' Roses Release 'Hard Skool'

Another song from the Chinese Democracy sessions has dropped from Guns n' Roses. The song is called "Hard Skool" and the official audio is below.

You can tell the time period of the vocal recording is from back in the Chinese Democracy days. Axl's voice was very distinctive then. It had a different quality and tone versus the Appetite for Destruction time period. His voice is also different now.

For me, "Hard Skool" is just okay. It's a fine rock track but ultimately not too memorable. Thoughts?

I really liked it. I think it sounds more like what could have been a follow-up to AFD as opposed to the Use Your Illusion albums. Not that I didn't like them, I just think this has a little more raw sound to it and isn't as over produced as Chinese Democracy. It's def an earlier Chi Dem sound when Slash and Duff were still in the band back then.

Personally, I prefer "Absurd" to this. But it is new (old) GnR music. So I guess that will placate fans. I am just glad I got to see them live and they chose to play "Absurd" instead of this song.

Thing is, GnR are never going to be a middle ground sorta' band. People draw lots of lines re: them (myself included).

I just wonder what might come out of some new collaborations, or if anything will come out as a result. Fool me once . . . kidding.

well, i’ve heard worse. i like the tempo and feel, but it’s kind of generic. at least it’s something though.
