Atreyu Does Bon Jovi = Epic Win

Glam on Glam, readers!

So, the other day a few of you happened to mention that Atreyu suck. They are playing this coming weekend (!) at Rock on the Range. I have some of their stuff; I don't hate or like them enough to really have an opinion one way or the other BUT...they did make an awesome cover of "You Give Love a Band Name." The song is featured on the limited edition version of the 2004 release, The Curse and soundtrack to Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Yeah, Atreyu does Bon Jovi...screamo style.

Before you freak out, flip cars, riot in the streets - just read. This modernized, screamo version of "You Give Love a Bad Name" is great for Bon Jovi and Glam. Why? Because it gives our music modern relevance. Sure, Bon Jovi doesn't need any more cash. Hell, Jon's great-great grandkids will be living off the "Bad Medicine" residuals, and yet...it's important these sort of covers exist.

Atreyu definitely put their own spin on "You Give Love a Bad Name" but the most crucial parts of the song are left intact. You know, the guitar solos and the big, harmonic chorus. What does this mean? It means Atreyu must be Bon Jovi fans and appreciate the song structure by the New Jersey Glam gods.

Click and listen. I'm sure all the comments will be negative, but whatever. It's 2009 and it's time some new bands bring back Glam any way they can. I hope Atreyu play this song next weekend. I guarantee every single person in the crowd will sing along. Every.single.one.of.us.

And one more thing: Never let them forget how they treated us in the 90s?

What the huh?

I don't recall that I had ANY trouble buying or listening to any kind of music I wanted during that period. Clearchannel had no effect on what I listened to other than they gave me - much like FM radio, MTV back in the day, and word of mouth gave me before.

ClearChannel is not big brother. Don't like their stuff? Turn 'em off.

i like it i like atreyu and i dont see anything wrong with this song. then again im not narrow minded about music . i like this one and the original by bon jovi. this is a good way to bring back old songs that might have faded out years ago they just might sound a little different thats all!!! rock'n' roll will never be the same way as others say that it was back in the day" but its the way the world we are evolving and so is the music..... i see nothing wrong with scremo music at all and when it brings back old songs that my parents tought me it really must mean something .that must be why they did it .

opean your mind on music because no matter what it will keep on going forward and never back to when it was original"!!!

sorry to tellyou that but thats how it works weather you like it or not!!!!

I can totally understand how people are saying they don't like it, if you were a true Bon Jovi you'd be disgraced by this also,

but please people take this into consideration, if you've never heard "You Give Love a Bad Name" and this is the first time hearing it (redone by Atreyu) you'd think this is a pretty good song.

In my opinion Bon Jovi fans have a right to attempt to flame this song, and i'm fine with that.

I am a Bon Jovi fan myself but I will not flame this song in anyway, Atreyu did a good job on this and if Bon Jovi thinks they're good enough to make a cover for it, I'll go along with it too.
