More AC/DC News

From the wide and awful world of social media comes more AC/DC news. Today, the band released a photo and confirmed their reunited lineup. This means AC/DC is now singer Brian Johnson, drummer Phil Rudd, bassist Cliff Williams and guitarists Angus and Stevie Young.

I would expect an album announcement any day now. The hashtag below is #PWRUP so maybe the new album will be called Power Up or something similar?

Perhaps this means Brian's hearing loss issues are under control? I certainly hope so. Perhaps we will get a big AC/DC tour in 2021, pandemic permitting of course.

'Stone Cold' -- Great Track!

Holy Glam, here's an amazing track long forgotten: "Stone Cold" by Rainbow. I saw this posted in a music group I'm in and my goodness, this is such a good track. It is half Glam, half AOR. Just really unique and a joy to hear again after so many years.

The song is on Rainbow's 1982 album Straight Between The Eyes. This was the Joe Lynn Turner era of the band, meaning you know you are going to get smooth vocals! Now I have to go listen to all of Straight Between The Eyes again. It has been forever and a day.

Here's the album if you want to listen with me!

AC/DC Are Back (Maybe)

The official AC/DC social media channels lit up out of nowhere today. Check out the lightning bolt tweet below. The sound is of a guitar being plugged into an amp. The last time the official AC/DC account posted a tweet was August 2, so it has been quite a few weeks. Now people online are speculating that AC/DC will announce a new album or tour very soon.

I'm here for new AC/DC music so let's get this show on the road!

No More Tears

I wonder how many times I've heard Ozzy Osbourne's hit "No More Tears?" Hundreds, I'm sure.

The other day I was driving and the song cane on Hair Nation and I cranked it up and just really enjoyed the experience. Instead of making the track background noise because I am so familiar with it, I really tried to be an active listener and enjoy the guitar parts. I had a great time just rocking out by myself.

When I got home several hours later, I was still thinking about the song. I went to the track's Wikipedia page and re-read some facts about it and I watched the official video again, too. I then remembered that I never cared for the video much.

The brilliance of the song is that killer bass line (thank you Mike Inez!) and the building crescendo of the lead guitar refrain (thank you Zakk Wylde!)

If a song like "No More Tears" came out today, would it would catch on? Probably not because no one would hear it, lost amongst a sea of pop and rap radio and Instagram influencers. Plus at just about six minutes, the song is long by today's standards, especially considering people have the attention span of gnats these days. I wish I would have been old enough to see this tour.

'Tainted Blood' - New Blue Oyster Cult Music

Blue Oyster Cult is making new music these days. The band will release The Symbol Remains early next month. One of the tracks off that album is "Tainted Blood" and you can listen below. It features Richie Castellano on vocals. What do you think?

'Raise The Cain' -- New Richie Kotzen Music

New music Thursday! Richie Kotzen is prolific when it comes to songwriting and now he is back with another new track! He worked on this one with Winery Dogs bandmate, drummer Mike Portnoy. Great guitar solos as always, but everyone knows I love Richie's work.

Kotzen had big plans to tour this year after releasing his latest album. Obviously that did not happen. I wanted to see him live so hopefully he plans a new tour when it is safe to do so.
