The Best Glam or Metal Albums of 2019

The "best of" anything is subjective as hell. Personal opinions are just that... personal. So here's a list of the albums I dug the most from the past year. Still, I bet you'll find some of your favorites here too. These are in no order. They just happen to be the records I came back to again and again. Ok, that isn't exactly true. I think the Slipknot is the best here. There isn't any new ground with We Are Not Your Kind. The album is just straight Slipknot. You know what you are going to get and sometimes that is all you need.

Jetboy - Born to Fly

Queensryche - The Verdict

Tesla - Shock

L.A. Guns - The Devil You Know

Crashdiet - Rust

Whitesnake - Flesh & Blood

Upon a Burning Body - Southern Hostility

Slipknot - We Are Not Your Kind

Eric listened to the new Volbeat, Rewind, Replay, Rebound a lot but I'm not really into them.

Here's a little Slipknot to enjoy before the ball drops. Be careful tonight - Happy New Year! I hope 2020 is great for us all. For many of us, 2019 plain sucked. I am not sad to see this year end.

In Which Def Leppard Tweet A Video Of Crap

I guess this is a random 2019 wrap video. Stuff left on the cutting room floor... and should have stayed there! Def Leppard are gearing up for a big 2020. They had a pretty successful 2019, too. Here's some random outtakes of their time on the road this year.

Open Thread: Best of 2019

My household is fighting some bugs this weekend, so things are low key and out of sync. I wanted to get my best of the year list ready this weekend but so far, no dice. So let's do things a little differently this year. Here is an open thread for you to post your choices for the best albums of 2019. Extra credit if you want to name the best show you attended, too.

Some of our favorites like Tesla, Queensryche, L.A. Guns and Whitesnake all released new work in 2019. Crazy Lixx, Slipknot, Tool, Alice Cooper and Steel Panther put out amazing releases. Pink Floyd dropped a massive new greatest hits set with previously unreleased tracks, too. Plus so many other albums and bands in between. All in all, 2019 was a strong year for metal. So what did you like? What did you hate? Share in the comments section below!

Here's one of my favorite songs "The Devil You Know" from L.A. Guns.

Aerosmith Donate Gear to MusiCares Auction

MusiCares is a charity that Aerosmith supports a lot. In fact, the nonprofit named Aerosmith "Person of the Year." MusiCares is holding an online auction to raise funds. The auction started yesterday and goes until Jan. 24. As you would expect, the stuff is expensive. There is a Brad Whitford guitar that starts at $350 with no bids yet. I'd like to have it as a piece of art but I'm sure the price will go sky high. But this is something I will watch.

The mission statement of MusiCares:

"MusiCares provides a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need. MusiCares' services and resources cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies, and each case is treated with integrity and confidentiality. MusiCares also focuses the resources and attention of the music industry on human service issues that directly influence the health and welfare of the music community."

Badlands - Live in California 1989

Here's a gift! Picture it, California: 1989. Badlands are on stage and this video captures the entire show in all its glory. This show took place on September 9, 1989 at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountainview, Calif. Ray Gillen was on fire here. Just watch and enjoy (but you need at least 45 minutes, so plan accordingly!)

Merry Christmas, One and All

It is Christmas again. I hope Santa brings you a lot of rare vinyl and vintage guitars and concert tickets. More than that, I hope you have a great holiday with family and friends. If you don't celebrate or you are separated from folks you usually spend the holiday with, leave a comment here. Someone will be along to talk with you!
