Heavy Metal PhD

It's all happening! The University of Newcastle in New South Wales Australia is now offering a fully funded PhD program in Heavy Metal. There are only two funded seats available (for Australian residents) or just one seat if the school selects an international candidate.

I've long considered studying heavy metal an anthropological exercise. After all, metal fans are a very distinct group of people - kind of like a tribe with a set of rituals and acceptable behavior. It will be interesting to see the research that comes from this program.

'The Dirt' Audio Book Available

You can now get The Dirt in audio form. Frankly, I'm stunned it took this long. Nikki released a little social media teaser earlier this week. I'm so glad it is Friday - I have so many things to catch up on this weekend. Make it a great day!

80s Metal Workout - Playlist

Amazon has a playlist called 80s metal workout. Actually, they have a whole slew of workout playlists, but the 80s metal one caught my eye for obvious reasons. There's good stuff here, featuring tracks from Exodus, Slayer, Poison and RATT... plus "Silent Lucidity" from Queensryche. Why? I have no idea why that song is on the playlist (five songs in) other than to remind you to stretch or something. Maybe I'll cue this playlist up for my run tomorrow morning. I'll skip the 'Ryche though. I need all the help I can get running up hills!
