Tiffany Taps Aerosmith For Holiday Campaign

"Dream On" is one of Aerosmith's most iconic tracks. Now Tiffany is using a cut of the song for their new holiday campaign "Believe In Dreams." This ad is pretty smart - a mix of high and low end pieces. I don't remember ever seeing the Tiffany boxes with a bow other than white!

This ad was created by Laird + Partners. Apparently the New York City flagship store has (or will have) a holiday window with the same "down the rabbit hole" vignettes. I'll assume the ad agency had their hand in that too.

Oh and if the star looks familiar, that's because it is Zoë Kravitz - yes, her dad is Lenny!

Def Leppard Release 'Personal Jesus' Video

Def Leppard recorded a cover of the Depeche Mode classic "Personal Jesus" for Spotify not so long ago. The song is included on the new compilation called The Story So Far - The Best Of. What do you think? The band is actually in the video and it isn't a lyric cop out. I'd estimate this one took about... two hours to shoot and considerably long to edit of course. Thoughts?

Sonic Temple Festival Announced

The Sonic Temple Festival will replace Rock on the Range. The inaugural Sonic Temple lineup is very strong (see below). The festival is set for the weekend of May 17 in Columbus, Ohio. Tickets are on sale November 30 at noon (ET). I expect this festival to sell out quickly. Rock on the Range was always an easy sell-out and the headliners are better for this one than most years of ROTR.

Goodbye Rough Cutt. Hello Rough Riot

The band Rough Cutt is done and is now Rough Riot. The "new" band is made up of Paul Shortino, Chris Hager, Carlos Cavazo, Sean McNabb and Dave Alford. Chris Hager wrote about this change last night on his Facebook page. According to the post, shows are upcoming - so look for a tour announcement. This lineup might be interesting to check out.

Best Music Gifts

I don't even want to think about how much money I've spent over the past 72 hours or so. I'm nearly 100% done with my holiday shopping. I just need to find something for Eric and I will be all done!

I was trying to think of some great gifts for music lovers. Maybe this list will help you as you do your shopping.

1. Gift cards for Ticketmaster to go to a live show.

2. Subscription to Amazon music unlimited (my subscription just renewed. Money well spent!)

3. Special edition releases of Def Leppard The Hysteria Singles or the remastered Beatles White album 6-CD set.

4. A mini Bose speaker (Eric got this for me one year and I love it! I use it while running on the treadmill in the basement).

Of course, if you have a musician in your life, then guitar strings and picks, drumsticks or even a new kit would be an amazing gift. Something else thoughtful is music lessons. Many people would love to learn piano. I'd much rather receive experiences than things - so hopefully this list helps you with your gift giving this holiday season.

Foreigner 'Jukebox Hero' Musical Set To Debut

I want to see this show! From my inbox:

Toronto, Canada – November 23, 2018 – A new musical built around legendary band FOREIGNER’s peerless catalogue of hit songs will make its world premiere this winter in Toronto. FOREIGNER recently celebrated its 40th anniversary of rocking the charts and arenas worldwide. The highly anticipated musical Jukebox Hero, The Musical from Calgary-based Annerin Theatricals will play an exclusive limited engagement at Toronto’s Ed Mirvish Theatre in February. Originally scheduled for February 21 to 24, 2019, due to demand, two shows have been added to the original run for February 20 at 8:00 p.m. and 24 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are on sale Saturday, November 24th at http://jukeboxheromusical.com

A coming-of-age saga featuring 16 of FOREIGNER’s iconic Top 30 hit songs Jukebox Hero, The Musical tells the story of the closing of rust-belt town of Blaydon, Pennsylvania's biggest factory. Confronted with a deluge of unemployment and instability, the community calls on Ryan, a local boy turned rock ’n’ roll superstar, for help. Yet Ryan never left his roots on good terms, so must confront the ghosts of his past as well as a home he no longer recognises.

No End In Sight: The Very Best Of Foreigner

The musical originated in a conversation between FOREIGNER founder and lead guitarist Mick Jones and Diana Ross. During a chance meeting in an airport lounge in the 1980s, Ross planted the seed of the idea that FOREIGNER’s music belonged in a stage production. The result is an epic production that builds on the timeless hits that defined a generation, including “Cold As Ice” to “Hot Blooded”, “Waiting For A Girl Like You” to “Dirty White Boy”, and “I Want To Know What Love Is”.

Canadian audiences have already tuned into the Jukebox Hero experience through several workshop productions in Calgary and Edmonton. The Calgary Herald reported that the response was “electric” from a “near-capacity crowd” with critics lauding its “eye-popping set” and “dynamite” performances from an all-Canadian cast that included Geordie Brown (Rent, Stan Rogers: A Matter of Heart) and Graham Scott Fleming (Kinky Boots).

Prolific British writing duo Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais (The Commitments, Across the Universe) were brought in to pen the book, with an artistic team led by Foreigner founder, songwriter and lead guitarist Mick Jones and FOREIGNER’s managers Phil Carson and Stewart Young, whose career track record includes AC/DC; Emerson, Lake and Palmer; Yes; and Led Zeppelin. This new Canadian production will be directed by Randy Johnson (A Night With Janis Joplin), and choreographed by Parker Esse, with musical direction by Mark Camilleri (Toxic Avenger, Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax).

Jukebox Hero, The Musical is sponsored by Boom 97.3FM.
