New Led Zeppelin Cover Features Frankie Banali

Hookers & Blow will release a cover album later this year. One of the songs on the upcoming release is a version of Led Zeppelin's "Trampled Under Foot." In addition to core Hookers & Blow members Alex Grossi and Dizzy Reed, the song also includes drumming by Frankie Banali and Mike Duda on bass.

The song was recorded in quarantine. Proceeds from the sale of the track will benefit pancreatic cancer research, in memory of Frankie.

New Broken Teeth Video

Broken Teeth will release a CD/DVD combo called Evil In The Queue later this year. One of the tracks on the album is "House of Damnation" and the live video is below. The song is originally from the 2017 release 4 On The Floor. Broken Teeth posted a video link on their Facebook page this weekend without much fanfare or explanation. Just a weekend surprise I suppose.

Award Show Flashback: 1997

The MTV Video Music Awards are tomorrow night. I have no idea why this still exists considering MTV rarely plays music videos, but whatever. In a nicely timed coincidence, Metalboy sent me some texts last night asking if I remembered a certain Aerosmith performance from an awards show long ago. I did vaguely remember the performance but I could not remember which award show.

Metalboy sleuthed it out and found Aerosmith's 1997 Billboard Music Awards performance. It happened in Las Vegas, they did the song "Pink" and synchronized swimming was involved. At the end, Steven Tyler jumps in the water, too.

You just don't see performances like the one below anymore. It was a fun blast from the past to watch again. I know I watched it live back in 1997. I was a junior in high school and obsessed with Aerosmith. The show was on December 8, which was a Monday night. I'm sure I made my parents sit through the show.

'The Show Must Go On' - New Video

My very favorite Queen track is "The Show Must Go On." Now there is a new video for the song. The clip is from the upcoming Live Around The World package due in October. This has always been a great anthem, but with the way things are in the world these days, I feel like we need it more than ever.

A PSA From Steven Tyler

Steven Tyler of Aerosmith posted a short PSA the other day on Facebook but I just noticed it today. Basically, do what you are supposed to do regarding Covid-19 and we can all "shut up and dance" again together soon. It's a fun little video for the end of the week slump.

Thinking about all our friends in Louisiana and Texas today in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura.

'Do What You Can' -- Bon Jovi, New Track

Bon Jovi is out with a new song called "Do What You Can." The song is about New York City during the pandemic and is on the upcoming album 2020.

"Do What You Can" definitely sounds country to me, but that is just my opinion. Fans helped create the verses for this song, which makes it a unique snapshot in time.

'For Whom The Bell Tolls' - Metallica and San Francisco Symphony

Metallica will release S&M2 on Friday. In advance of that release, the band has dropped another video from the package. This time it is "For Whom The Bell Tolls" and it is majestic. I watched in awe the first time I pressed play on this new clip. I cannot wait to get this package and watch the entire remastered film this weekend!

Pre-order 'S&M2 (Deluxe Box)(4LP)(2CD)(1 Blu-ray)' and support BBG!
