Rock N America Bands Officially Announced

Now we can officially start talking about the giant new glam fest in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma! Rock N America is set for July 23-25 at the Zoo Amphitheater. Bands confirmed so far include the Scorpions, RATT, Twisted Sister, Vince Neil, Warrant, Great White, Dokken, Sebastian Bach, Faster Pussycat, Winger, Toxin, Firehouse, Bulletboys, Bang Tango, Enuff Z'Nuff and L.A. Guns (Tracii's version). Cinderella is playing too - they already confirmed on their own website so I'm not sure why the fest doesn't have them listed yet. More bands will be added. The bands not officially mentioned or self-confirmed are pretty great, by the way. This is a great glam fest!

My main concern is the heat. I thought the best thing the Rocklahoma owners could ever do was move the event to May. Not that Rock N America and Rocklahoma have the same promoters - they don't - but still. The heat is going to be an issue.

Tickets for Rock N America go on sale April 10th. I dunno if I can swing another festival...I've already got a handful on my docket, but we'll see.

MORE BANDS ADDED TO POTENT ROCKLAHOMA LINE-UP MISS ROCKLAHOMA IS BACK! ONE WEEK LEFT TO GET TICKETS AT THE CURRENT LOW PRICE

Pryor, OK – Rocklahoma has announced new additions to its Memorial Day Weekend lineup of top rock artists from the past three decades.  Sevendust, Fuel (featuring original lead singer Brett Scallions), Lacuna Coil, The Last Vegas, Gypsy Pistoleros, The Nigel Dupree Band, O’Dette, Problem Child, Black Tora, Mad Max and Bad Things will join a previously announced all-star roster including ZZ Top, Godsmack, Tesla, Buckcherry, Cinderella, Chevelle, Theory of a Deadman, Saliva, Saving Abel and more (see below for the full line-up).  Unfortunately, due to conflicts with a European tour, Stone Sour will no longer be appearing at Rocklahoma.  The multi-day destination camping rock festival takes place May 28-30, 2010 at “Catch the Fever” Festival Grounds in Pryor, OK.

Following the overwhelming success of the Miss Rocklahoma competition in 2009, the contest returns in 2010.  Starting Monday, April 3 at noon CST, ladies who feel they “exude rock n’ roll” can enter at www.rocklahoma.com for a chance to be crowned the “Miss Rocklahoma.”

The top ten women who best possess the spirit of Rocklahoma will be announced at www.rocklahoma.com  on April 29th.  Rock fans from around the world can then vote online for their favorite choice for “Miss Rocklahoma.”  The top five finalists will be announced on May 20th and then introduced on-stage at Rocklahoma on Friday, May 28th and one lucky contestant will be crowned the winner and ambassador for Rocklahoma 2010.  For more details, please visit www.rocklahoma.com.

Rocklahoma organizers continue to offer fan-friendly ticket prices for the 3-day weekend rock event which features over 35 artists on three stages. Three-day general admission tickets are still available for only $97 and 3-day VIP tickets can be purchased for as low as $267 through Thursday, April 8.

Beginning Friday, April 9 at 10am CST, 3-day general admission ticket prices will increase to $112 and 3-day VIP tickets will start at $292.

Established in 2007 as a classic rock destination festival with the motto “life, liberty and the pursuit of rock,” Rocklahoma organizers teamed with AEG LIVE to revamp the 2010 event to encompass a much broader mix of classic, current and up-and-coming rock artists.

The current line-up for Rocklahoma 2010 is as follows: ZZ Top, Godsmack, Tesla, Buckcherry, Cinderella, Chevelle, Theory of a Deadman, Saliva, Sevendust, Fuel feat. Brett Scallions, Saving Abel, Adelita’s Way, Janus, Aranda, The Veer Union, Burn Halo, Richy Nix, Shaman’s Harvest, Lacuna Coil, Taddy Porter, Like A Storm, Taking Dawn, New Medicine, Year Long Disaster, Gypsy Pistoleros, Nigel Dupree Band, Brookroyal, Within Reason, The Last Vegas, Wildstreet, Firstryke, Krank, The Glitter Boys, O’Dette, Problem Child, Black Tora, Mad Max, Bad Things and a very special guest to be announced soon!

Another Round of Rocklahoma Bands

I'm expecting more Rocklahoma bands to be announced today and really, it's time. After all, the fest is at the end of May now and not in mid-July as year's past. As soon as the announcement is released, I'll post here. Also, Italy's Lacuna Coil has confirmed they will play Rocklahoma on May 30th. I think this is cool - I never expected to see Lacuna Coil in Pryor, Oklahoma!

Lacuna Coil, "I Like It"

Rocklahoma confirmed bands so far: ZZ Top, Godsmack, Buckcherry, Tesla, Cinderella, Chevelle, Stone Sour, Theory of a Deadman, Saliva, Saving Abel, Adelitas Way, Janus, Aranda, Burn Halo, Richy Nix, Shaman's Harvest, Taddy Porter, Like A Storm, Taking Dawn, New Medicine, Year Long Disaster, Brookroyal, Within Reason, Wildstreet, Firstryke, Krank and the Glitter Boys.

A Huge Glam Fest is Coming!

People, there's another huge fest coming. Rock in America is planned for July 23-25 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The venue is the Zoo Amphitheater. (I've never been to Oklahoma city, so I don't know anything about this venue).

I've seen the full band list - and no I can't tell you who is playing. Let's just say it's big. Real big. Actually, I can tell you one band because they've already got it on their website. Twisted Sister has confirmed their place at the new event. Twisted has their slot listed as Friday, July 23rd. The promoters hope to announce this very soon - obviously - because time is ticking. And trust me, you're going to be interested.

Bret Michaels and Miley Cyrus, 'Nothing to Lose'

What do we think of the Bret Michaels/Miley Cyrus collaboration, "Nothing to Lose?" I gotta admit, I was expecting much worse...the song isn't great, but it isn't heinous either. The song has that country edge that Bret seems to like when doing his solo stuff and Miley actually adds a little depth to the tune. I'm not a big Miley fan really, but she wasn't too bad on American Idol last week and for some reason, this collaboration with Bret seems like a win-win for each party. If you haven't heard "Nothing to Lose," check it out below and let me know your thoughts.

Don't forget: Bret's heading out on tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd this summer. He'll also be at the Dakota Rock Fest on July 23rd.

No South Texas Rock Fest After All?

Awhile back I posted that the producers of South Texas Rock Fest had sent a Myspace blast, saying info on this year's event was coming soon. Well, now some people on the Rocklahoma forum are saying that they've heard STRF is indeed canceled.

I can't ever get anyone with South Texas Rock Fest on the phone to confirm this - but at least three other people have, so the info seems legit. The festival was supposed to be the same weekend as Rocklahoma - the Memorial Day holiday. Again, I hope I'm wrong because I know a lot of you were wanting to attend this San Antonio festival. If I hear anything else, I'll post an update.
