I can't believe it is end of May and the Memorial Day holiday weekend here in America. Time was dragging and then all of a sudden: bam! Seems like the days are flying by. I'm used to it typically at least being a little warm this time of year, but yesterday in Ohio was miserable. I ran outside and it was so cold, I should have worn gloves. The wind was cutting through me like it was late February. Totally odd.
The news of the week was basically a mixed bag of nothing too revolutionary, which is pretty common around a major holiday. The biggest thing for me was the Friends reunion finally happened, thanks to HBO Max. I genuinely had a lot of fun watching the cast back together again.
Of course, The Onion has a hot take:
Amazon is buying MGM Studios which seems like a good deal for Prime subscribers. More free content for streaming!
Still not convinced you should get a COVID-19 vaccine? There are plenty more prizes and freebies awaiting those who are on the fence. Now Super Bowl tickets are on the table!
A lot of folks (myself included) wanted to get vaccinated to make travel safe and easy again. It seems people have forgotten how to comport themselves with decorum after lockdown and are now acting like literal fools in the friendly skies. People are behaving so badly on planes that both American Airlines and Southwest are not bringing back alcohol onboard until at least mid-September. An unruly nut on a Southwest flight even attacked a flight attendant, knocking out two of her teeth.
Another week, more mass shootings in America. I mean, it's sad that it is so hard to keep track. There was a bad one in Florida just overnight.
A shooting at the VTA facility in San Jose, California left 9 dead and many wounded, too.
The Republican party has blocked a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6 insurrection. This is political malpractice. The investigation will likely now happen via a select committee.
And I leave you with this:
