This Is Real: Vince Neil To Headline 'DrinksGiving'

DrinksGiving only exists in Las Vegas, of course.

Vince Neil will headline "DrinksGiving" during "Blackout Wednesday" on November 24. Yes, that's the day before Thanksgiving for all fellow Americans reading this. From Vegas Publicity:

On Wednesday, Nov. 24, Fremont Street Experience will throw an epic drink-fest and block party encompassing the entire destination with its inaugural DrinksGiving celebration and free concert featuring Mötley Crüe front man Vince Neil. Tourists, locals, and rock fans alike are invited to celebrate DrinksGiving on Blackout Wednesday in Downtown Las Vegas with soon-to-be announced drink specials, pub crawls, drinking games and more.

'Fremont Street is the place to party in Las Vegas, and we are always exploring new ways to give our guests the experience of a lifetime,' said Andrew Simon, president and CEO of Fremont Street Experience. 'DrinksGiving is going to be the ultimate Blackout Wednesday event in Las Vegas.'

I swear, you can't make this shit up. It doesn't seem like a great idea to have Vince headline such a show, but hey. I don't run his PR. Of course, Vince did kill Razzle from Hanoi Rocks all those years ago while driving drunk.

Sad Update About Mike Howe's Death

Mike Howe, Metal Church singer, died a few days ago. The sudden death was ruled a suicide. Just one more reminder that mental health must be talked about more openly. The stigma and jokes about people being "crazy" need to go. Remember, you don't have to suffer alone - there are resources and people to help.

ZZ Top Will Continue On

The death of ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill was the big, sad news of yesterday. Now, word the band will go ahead with Dusty's blessing. In a couple tweets from Billy Gibbons to Eddie Trunk, it seems that Dusty gave his blessing for the band to continue.

ZZ Top is currently on tour. The South Carolina show planned for last night was cancelled. Hill's longtime guitar tech is filling in for the live shows.

Farewell Dusty Hill

Back here in the obits section - I mean Bring Back Glam! - more sad news: Dusty Hill, founding bassist for ZZ Top, has died. He was 72. The band says he died in his sleep. Hill - and ZZ Top - are music legends, especially for southern rock. They were huge in the 80s too. I'm glad I got to see them live once. Seriously people, see the bands you love live now while you still can.

ZZ Top is currently on tour. No word what will happen with those dates. The band is supposed to perform tonight in South Carolina. Hill was already off the tour for a few shows for a hip issue.

Farewell Joey Jordison

It is just unreal to me, how many musicians we're losing these days. Joey Jordison, founding member and drummer of Slipknot, died yesterday at 46. He had transverse myelitis, but it isn't exactly clear what caused the death. He died in his sleep.

Jordison left Slipknot in 2013. Slipknot's All Hope Is Gone is one of my favorite metal records, period. Jordison's drumming is great on the album. Slipknot is on a social media blackout in honor of Jordison.

Farewell Mike Howe

Metal Church singer Mike Howe passed yesterday. He was only 55. His death was unexpected and not believed to be related to alcohol or drugs. Mike and Metal Church are considered some of the forefathers of thrash.

RokIsland Fest 2022 Announced

This looks fun! RokIsland Fest is officially on the books for next January. It goes down in Key West, Florida. Lots of bands on the bill including Bret Michaels, Loverboy, a Dokken and George Lynch reunion, Lita Ford and more.

Tickets go on sale Monday, August 9. The show capacity is limited to 4,000 so this will probably sell out pretty fast.
