Quiet Riot Is Playing M3

We know M3 Rock Festival is slated for May 11 and 12 in Columbia, Maryland. Now we know the first confirmed band, too. Frankie Banali announced that Quiet Riot will play the festival. I'm sure this will get the tongues wagging. Whenever modern-day Quiet Riot comes up in conversation there's always a heated debate as to whether the band should still be performing without Kevin Dubrow.
Incidentally, I saw Kevin and the rest of Quiet Riot at the first Rocklahoma. That was the only time I ever saw the band. I have an open mind - I'll give Frankie's version of the band a chance at M3. Will you?

And I guess not OTSK! but now, OTAK! (Only The Ace Knows!), too!
p.s. Ace -- You got Ana Black on CD or Vinyl? They ruled The Strip right before it was all over in the early 90's. They frickin' ROCK to high heaven!
About a year ago I sent it to a good friend in the UK.
(Kelv, why aren't you posting on here?) As for Ana Black, you're right, they did rock! I had mp3's of their record & sadly it wasn't as good as they were live.
I still can't figure out for the life of me, why the labels, the producers and MTV all simultaneously walked away, almost in lock- step collusion, from The L.A. Glam Metal Machine when they had such a good thing going. Little did they know, the day they did that, they effectively killed Real Rock, opening the door to Grunge, Alternative and Brit-Pop, all mere approximations of the genuine article, ROCK AND ROLL!!!
Just think about all those great bands who didn't get signed that the sheep still don't seek out, even with the easy access of the Internet, only because their music wasn't beat into our little pea brains the way the usual suspects were and still are, for that matter, is a cryin' shame and yet another example of how the
sheep of our society only pay attention to anything if it's considered fit for mass consumption, as in platinum radio fare.
We only lavish praise on bands that got signed, put out major label releases, got airplay and heavy rotation on MTV, when there are so many hidden gems yet to be discovered by the sheep grazing on the same fare on here over and over again. People, get on with it...
YouTube "Ana Black". Listen, and then look to your right on the screen at ALL the clips of similarly amazing bands you've never heard of who are as good or better than the same ol' same ol' you've been brainwashed into thinking are the only bands worth paying attention to. Allyson does it. I do it. Ace lived it on The Strip. Now it's time for you to jump in and Bring Back Glam!
p.s. Ace! Hate to bust chops but even you should snap out of justifying the existence of a band beyond the music. Take your mention of Snow. Are they not great whether you even heard of Cavazo or not? This is what I'm talking about. Yes, the family tree and DNA of a band is interesting stuff but, c'mon, everybody! -- Just listen to the music! If it ROCKS, who cares where it comes from! Huh-uh-lo-oh!!!
Haven't seen QR live since the Condition Critical tour. On that night, they played in the civic coliseum, which had its stage set back-to-back with the neighboring civic auditorium stage - which happened to have the local symphony playing. The symphony review in the paper the next day pretty much talked about how you could hear QR pounding over the symphony the entire night.
Are you people deaf?
Ba-a-a-h, b-a-a-h...
That said, Huff seems to be settling into what must be a daunting role. His demeanor on stage is less forced (though the horns could be used a bit less frequently), his vocals sound more relaxed. What a difference a few months make. I wish him well.
But there are exceptions, HIM... You obviously not being one of them...
Unless YOU want to find out what's really going on out there beyond, well, HIM.
Don't get me wrong, HIM -- I've got your albums like all the other sheep out there.
And I fully admit, I am a sheep, too!
But the trick is to be a BLACK SHEEP!
Learn about and get into all "The Holy Grails of Hair Metal" -- those albums that are deemed to be the Rarest CDs in existence. These are the bands that should have made it. Bands that are every bit as good as the same "crap" we all keep lionizing on this site.
Hunger for the new and different! Quit jumping off the cliff with the rest of the Metalemmings! March to the beat of a different Heavy Metal drummer!
OTSK! Take Shadow, for example...
Here's a kid, not even out of college yet (!), who's into Maiden and all the other usual sh*t -- Ozzy, etc., etc... And when I say he's into it, I mean, he's WAY into it! He knows every bit of trivia about every major band...
But he duzn't stop there, no siree!!!
As he travels all over the world, he's scouring Indy record stores, buying Vinyl and CDs many times solely based on how the album covers look, just as I often STILL do, even though the Holy Grails I buy now, I generally tend to research a bit, as the CDs can get a little pricey.
Anyway, he has commented many times on some of his leap of faith discoveries. An example that comes to mind was his discovery of late 80's/early 90's Hair Metal band, ICON.
Ever heard of 'em, HIM? Check 'em out, dude, if you haven't heard of 'em or heard 'em. They are but one example of the 1,000's of bands out there that will set you free from the limitations of only appreciating what you have been brainwashed into liking by the Metal Media.
Keep in mind, Allyson and her juggernaut web site is not the typical Metal Media. Yes, it's true, she covers the he'll out of all the usual suspects, but she'll also bring to our attention a hidden gem Holy Grail like Brass Kitten, for example.
The beautiful thing about the Internet is you can find out about bands you have never heard of that could easily wind up being a band you would like as much or more (!) as many of the majors you hold so dear to your little Metal Heart.
Go for it, kidz! The Great Unknown can set you free!
OTSK! OTSK!
And just because it is arcane doesn't make it good. For every Fastway vocalist turned Flogging Molly traditionalist--the move from Fast Eddie to Dennis Casey just boggles my mind (in a good way)--there are scores of back-stories that don't get passed around that much because they don't yield much. Doesn't mean people don't enjoy Kick Axe (cuz they are a part of this "crazy world we like"). Just means not a lot of people do. My point: so what? If you dig it, great.
A fetish for the old and under-appreciated, coupled with a fear of "metal media" and a need to name call? Where does that get you? I guess it gets you an audience on a great website. Cool enough. And I am sure you are a great person to swap stories with face-to-face. Heck, I enjoy these tirades, digressions, and self-important leaps you take (sometimes with the facts in hand, sometimes not). It makes things fun. But that doesn't make you right because you said it and others "lemmings" because they disagree.
So keep it coming: Paul Gilbert references here, King Kobra there, a smattering of . . . but wait, I shouldn't know that those two are tangentially related to Black Sheep and Icon, should I?
I come to this site for some information, some entertainment, and an occasional comment or two. And I agree with you on one thing. The Great Unknown _can_ set you free. But it can also create a chamber where you only give off echoes that bounce off your previous proclamations. It sustains you I guess.
But you are better than that Metalboy! I know you are better than that. How? I read and value what you have to say.
heavyharmonies.com (note the wallpaper background), look to the left menu bar, go down to "Ebay Rarities", click and welcome to "The Chamber of Luv" (thanks for the song title inspiration, too) Fletch, er...um...I mean, HIM!
Then click on the album title and it will take you to the album cover of the band selected and you can read the comments by those who own the CD. Then write down all the names that are new to you and go to YouTube and type 'em in. Most of them have been posted, one track per post, by people who REALLY want to BRING BACK GLAM! there, often with great pictures, sometimes even video, accompanying the songs.
Here is your NEW REALITY!
p.s. This list is just the tip of the iceberg, but at least it's a start! And a lot has changed in the collectors market since this list was created (there's stuff much better than most listed here that aren't even listed that are in the $75 -- $400 range, self-released between 1989 -- 1993, that are absolutely stunning!)... Buckle your seat belts!
I'm not Fletch. You know that as well as anyone.
Passionate is great. Obstinate and repetitive is not. I get (got) your point. Enough said.
