'Randy Rhoads Remembered: A Celebration For A Guitar Legend'

If only I was near one of these tour stops! Starting June 3, music legends from the rock world will do a mini tour of the east coast to pay tribute to guitarist Randy Rhoads. I think this is a very cool idea!

Best and most innovative guitarist of my lifetime. VH was more about flash.Randy could be just as flashy, but had a shit ton more feel, song writing ability, and technique,IMHO.It's great to see the man getting the recognition he deserves.

One of the best guitarists ever. You can't touch some of the brilliant stuff off of Diary Of A Madman. Rest in peace. A Rock N Roll legend.

Since Night Ranger is listed, I hope that Brad Gillis will be playing guitar. For those who don't know, Gillis toured with Ozzy right after Randy Rhodes' death. Of course he was no Rhodes, but he did a very fine job.

Actually, right after Rhoads's death, Bernie Torme played a few gigs with Ozzy, but he didn't want to do it permanently. There is a bootleg floating around, albeit in not good sound quality, of one of the gigs with Torme on guitar. Brad gillis did a great job with Ozzy. There is a great bootleg of an FM broadcast of an Ozzy show with Gillis on guitar. I believe it was recorded in San Francisco. Track it down if you can. Great sound quality.

Rhodes took it to a level that since, has never been touched.

p.s. Bob! Thanks for tip on that Ozzy recording featuring Gillis. Always loved that Gillis, the guitarist of what amounts to being one of the biggest AOR bands of all time, total cheezemeisters, Night Ranger, is still regarded as one of Randy's best doppelgängers, having carried the torch in his honor on tour with Ozzy back in the day. Shows ya that, no matter what you might think of someone's music, ya gotta appreciate their talent, technical ability and professionalism, regardless of the genre the inhabit. Wonder what Ace thinks about this Mini-Tour, since he knew Randy and is friends with the Rhodes Family.

C'mon people!

Would you call Jimi "Mr. Hendricks"? I don't think so.

I Hope they pay tribute 2 his Quiet Riot days.
I love the first 2 Quiet Riot CD's!

Some of Randy's best work was w/Quiet Riot!

Forgive me, Ace! Too tired when I posted. You'd think I could read the post, if not remember.

That aside, what are your thoughts on the Mini-Tour. And didn't you know Randy and aren't you still in touch with the Rhoads Family?
