Van Halen Announces Summer Tour

It's always the Van Halen way: deny rumors, fly under the radar and bam! Tons of news, all at once. The band is going out on a big summer tour and Kenny Wayne Shepherd will provide direct support. Based on Roth's performance with Foo Fighters at Grohl's birthday shindig in L.A. Al posted not too long ago, it's worth a shot, but it might be smarter to catch 'em earlier in the tour due to speculation of certain possible unforeseen circumstances.
And if you look at the dates, you'll see there are NO back-to-back shows on the schedule. Same with last tour. Smart move by Diamond Dave to help him preserve his voice. One day on, one day off...
What a buzzkill they're putting that hick on tour with them. Oh, well, I'msure it's been carefully researched to appeal to a certain demographic of rednecks who like that sort of thing AND Van Halen as it will help sell tickets.
Oh, man too bad the Van Halens can't face how much better it would be with Anthony soundwise, especially for Roth.
hmmmm......
No Michael Anthony....no VH.
But if the Kimmel performances were any indication, DLR is down to one or two songs max before the cracks turn into chasms. Either that, or he was off a step from the Foo Fighters gig a few months ago.
Of course, I am bummed about this. Bummed more so that they are touring on the back of an only so-so live album and not new material (with Anthony would be best, but EVH's prerogatives drive that ship no matter what fans want and WVH is slagged unfairly save when it comes to not having the vox that Anthony had).
Heck, I would even put up with a shot DLR touring his solo stuff that--as John 5 recently confirmed--is all but done.
