Throwback Thursday: 90s Style

I graduated high school in 1998, meaning Glam metal isn't actually the music of my generation.
During my high school days we had old school hip hop or grunge. We already know how hard the 90s were for a lot of the bands we love. So while I still listened to my beloved Glam bands, I also listened to a lot of hip hop and R&B. Back then, R&B and hip hop artists really sang - the songs weren't pure filth like today. Sort of the same with rock bands today versus the 80s I guess. Back in the 80s, Glam frontmen and women could really sing and guitarists could really shred. Today, that just isn't the norm anymore. So while this is a Glam site, I thought it would be fun to post up some of my favorite R&B and hip hop songs from my high school days. It is throwback Thursday, after all! #TBT!
2Pac, featuring Dr. Dre and Roger Troutman - "California Love"
Fun fact: this was wedding reception entrance song. Why? Why not! Easily one of the best rap songs ever recorded.
Brownstone - "If You Love Me"
SWV - "Right Here"
This is one of my favorite songs and videos of all time: Keith Sweat, featuring Kut Klose - "Twisted"
Do you like any 90s R&B or hip hop?

I agree that the "natural talent" isn't the norm anymore, instead leaning too much on production. Of course we said that in the 90's, and the 80's...and so on. I've been exploring 60's R&B recently and appreciate the singing and even more the bass grooves-lots to learn if I can play that!
Kinda makes you wonder how far we will "devolve" before returning back to actual performing...
Could you imagine an actual "live" performance at a Super Bowl or some event?....
Some of my fav tracks from that era are by Aaliyah, Brandy, 112, Mista, Keith Sweat, Mark Morrison, Joe, Ghostown DJ's, Fugees, Az Yet, Joose, Total, Jon B., Nasty Boy Klick, Sylk-E. Fyne, Case, Tony Rich Project, etc... So yeah, a bunch of killer music came out of that era.
2Pac, Michael Jackson & Mariah Carey.
I find Mariah Carey's music released after 2001 on up to today to be really bland/generic, but I love pretty much everything I ever heard from 2Pac & Michael Jackson.
While hard rock/metal is my #1 preference & takes up about 75% of my music collection.
I still have a little bit of all types of music in my collection taking up the other 25%.
Pop, Country, Dance, Jazz etc etc etc.
