Ohio's Inkcarceration Festival Announces Bands

The Inkcarceration Festival will take place July 12 - 14 in Mansfield, Ohio. That weekend is about the apex of heat in the Buckeye State, so that should be interesting. Humidity aside, these bands don't do it for me. This seems like another cookie-cutter event. What do you think?

Just gross.

Stabbing Westward...wow that's a band I haven't thought about in a LONG time! I just looked it up and they haven't had a new studio album since 2001. I guess it is about time for the late 90s/early aughts bands to start getting back together.

Me likes a skillet or two . . . of eggs. Nah. Not my bag either.

But I will say this: they are veering dangerously close to getting a call from Danny Wimmer Presents and their legal reps with their logo/typeface and website. Not to mention, the whole vibe they seem to be attempting smacks of a lower rent version of DWP's productions across the country.

Seriously, I am not trying to give DWP publicity. I admire him for what he does, as against larger players on the US Festival Circuit. I guess he could take this as a form of flattery then.

A lot of these festivals are starting to look the same and bleed together, although there is some good bands on the bill, I think festivals should be more unique to the location they are in and mixing up the bands a little bit.
Never understood the appeal of the band Skillet, I'm with you Him, I'll take mine with a side of hashbrowns.

Dj, I think we are chasing each other's posts (just saw yours about Vixen after I posted mine).

Agree with you 100%. But I don't think the market will allow that sort of flexibility and risk anymore. Every year you hear about some big dreamer who put together his (or her) "wish list" festival, some small and some big . . . only to have it implode because of poor judgment, questionable financing, or naivete on the part of the promoter. This, consolidation into mega-tier and regional-tier promotions that have the heft to put on festivals . . . that all, sadly, sorta' look the same. And that trend is beginning to have an impact on European festivals as well, esp. if we are talking about niche (and I say that with regret) genres like metal, classic rock, or what have you.

The only route for them to remain viable is to diversify. For me, that often means a lot of stuff I don't care to listen to or pay for. So I don't. My high water moment was Rock n' America. That was a fantastic line-up for the time. But what happened? That promoter lost money and never staged the event again. So I was lucky to be there.

“Incomprehensible 2019” is yet another example of a horrible package of overall sh*tty bands (with a handful of decent acts) masquerading as a festival these days.

Like some of the other borefests of late, it’s the same bunch of mediocre crap save for Buckcherry, FOZZY and Andrew W.K.

Geezus, you know you’re f*cked when you start including Andrew W.K. on the list of bands you feel like you should see to make going to the event worthwhile. Geezus!
