Phenomenal drummer. In addition to his ground breaking work with Cream, I recommend seeking out his work with Ginger Baker’s Air Force, the first two albums of Baker-Gurvitz Army, and his albums with Fela Kuti and with Public Image Limited (that PiL album, titled “Album”, is actually really good, in great part thanks to Baker’s work on it). Also, I’m not one for drum solos but I always enjoyed his solo on Blind Faith’s “Do What You Like”.

RIP, legend.

To get a real picture of the man, check out “Beware of Mr. Baker”, the excellent, yet unintentionally hilarious documentary about Baker.

At one point in the movie, Baker talks about how none of his contemporaries can keep time when playing the drums. We’re talking John Bonham, Keith Moon, Charlie Watts, etc.
