But I am feeling old. Really old. This reminds me of my experiences with Ozzfest and Lollapalooza in decades past. At a certain point, there was a tipping point. I looked at the card and went "Who the hell are all these bands?!?!" Or, in a different tone, "Why those bands?!?!?"
I mean, I get it. Concerts aren't for old (and artful) codgers who are dreaming of festivals past. But I still remember being at a certain Ozzfest and just being completely uncommitted to the acts I was seeing in the lead up to the main acts. My friend and I were walking by the stage, on our way to get drinks, and I went, "Oh! I know that song!" It was "Butterfly" by Crazy Town. And I wasn't saying that because I was super excited to hear the song (though it does sorta' stick in your ear like a bad piece of wax). I was saying that because I finally _knew_ a song!
I've raised this issue previously. I have also pointed out that the festival market is snug-tight with bigger and smaller groups that package and repackage these things across the US when things are normal. So I won't belabor the point. But I will celebrate the possibility of this happening, even if I don't go. We all want shows. So I hope we get them soon.
