Bang Tango, 'I Like It' - Song Review

The other day Bang Tango released the video for their song "I Like It" from the album Pistol Whipped in the Bible Belt.

The song is really dark and not really what I was expecting, but I think Joe Leste sounds pretty good on this track. The pace makes it an interesting Glam track - there's sort of a mellow groove going on and it is very dark. I think this is good - not every Glam song needs to sound like an over-the-top party anthem. By going dark, Bang Tango shows some depth and I think that's important, even for an established band.

Since Pistol Whipped in the Bible Belt just came out in September, I suspect we'll be seeing Bang Tango at M3 this May.

The official video is below. I think the song is much better than the video, but you be the judge.

Black Robot Has a New Singer

Remember Black Robot? It's been awhile since we talked about them. The band is made up of a couple former Buckcherry musicians and I wrote about them a couple years ago for Noisecreep. Now, Black Robot has a new singer and is working on a record for release this year. The band has a definite 80s vibe and in some ways sounds a lot like AC/DC. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a band like Black Robot on the M3 bill.

Here's info on the new singer:

Los Angeles based hard rock band Black Robot welcome new singer Jeremy Aric to the line-up.   Jeremy joins the band after the acrimonious departure of former singer Huck Johns.  “We’re very excited about moving forward with Jeremy.” Brightman states “He’s a powerful vocalist with range and style that reminds me of the great British hard rock/heavy metal singers of the past.  He was able to deliver great performances on the record that will take Black Robot to the next level.”

Black Robot which also features lead guitarist Andy Andersson, has been in the studio finishing their sophomore release set for 2012.  The new album sees the return of Grammy nominated producer Dave Cobb (Shooter Jennings, Jamey Johnson) and Grammy nominated album mixer Mark Needham (The Killers).  Also returning for an appearance is former Alice Cooper & Queen keyboardist Fred Mandel.  The band posted the first glimpse of the new album on their Facebook and YouTube pages which feature guitarist Andersson and bassist Brightman tracking guitar and bass respectively.  A heavy, Black Sabbath sounding tune Staring at the Sun can be heard.  This is the first sign of new music the band has released since their debut.

Black Robot is a Los Angeles based rock band formed in 2008 by bassist Jonathan “JB” Brightman.  Their debut album was released June 8, 2010 on Formosa Records/Rocket Science Ventures.  It was praised by critics and received a Top 15 Rock Albums of 2010 nod from Apple’s iTunes and the #5 Song of the Year (Baddass) by Classic Rock Magazine.  Brightman is a founding member of the Grammy nominated band Buckcherry, co-writing and performing on their self-titled debut album, as well as their follow-up Time Bomb.  Black Robot is managed exclusively by Ron Rainey and Greg Lewerke for Ron Rainey Management, Inc.  For further information about Black Robot visit www.blackrobotmusic.com.

When Will The New Guns n' Roses Record Be Released?

So Guns n' Roses apparently want to record a new album. Color me skeptical, since it took Axl Rose over a decade or so to release Chinese Democracy.

The other day, Dj Ashba said that the band's main priority is recording a new record now that the band has wrapped its North American tour. Of course, no definitive date of release was given. Apparently Ashba wrote a dozen or so new songs which "Axl really likes." Ashba also said it is "everyone's goal to release an album in a reasonable amount of time."

Well, reasonable is a word that means different things to different people. This means a poll is in order! So, please vote below and let me know when you think GnR will release a new record.

Ozzy Osbourne's 'Secret Fantasy'

All week, CBS has been airing a commercial promising to reveal Ozzy Osbourne's "secret fantasy." I have no idea when said secret fantasy will be revealed because, well, the promo doesn't say.

The clip below has freaked me out all week. The picture is just... creepy. And if I ever do find out Ozzy's fantasy, rest assured that I'll post an update here.

Bret Michaels, 'Get Your Ride On' - New Video

Bret Michaels has a new song and video for "Get Your Ride On." The clip is to support motorcross. The song doesn't do much for me, but hey, you might dig it. Listen and let me know what you think.

The Quiet Riot Debacle

There's drama in the Quiet Riot camp. That's because singer Mark Huff was let go.

While he was in the hospital.

Getting ready for brain surgery.

Yep.

And apparently the firing happened via Facebook... and Mark found out by reading the Quiet Riot page.

Yep.

Needless to say, Huff was mad. He wrote on his own Facebook about the incident:

"As I sit in hospital… wait for my brain surgery… I have been let go from Quiet Riot. And nobody's had balls to tell it to my face. Interesting … the rock 'n' roll business. I have to read the news in a post that's not even directed to me?… WTF?"

I suspect fans left some angry posts for Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali on the QR Facebook. I say "suspect" because it seemed like someone was deleting posts from that page. Then Banali left his own message on the QR wall:

"With regards to Mark Huff: My policy has always been not to air out the dirty laundry in public. That policy remains the same even in light of those who chose to make accusations. The fact is that Mr. Huff's medical condition had nothing to do with the decision that was made, though it is unfortunate that it comes at such a time. His wife assured me that Mark would be home this week, and as legal protocol dictated, a certified letter was sent informing Mark of the decision that was made and why it was made. This was days ago. The content of that letter is a private matter unless Mr. Huff decides to make the reason for his dismissal made public, which I believe would be counterproductive for him. I will not go tit for tat with this issue."

I'm sure there's more to this story that dueling Facebook posts. Still, Huff had been with Quiet Riot since 2010 and was supposed to sing with the band at M3 in May. Whatever the case, it seems pretty dirty to fire someone before brain surgery. Oh and there's this: Banali has already replaced Huff with Keith St. John (he was in Montrose). Here are the upcoming QR dates:

Feb. 1 - B B King's - New York, NY
Feb. 3 - The Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood, NJ
Feb. 4 - The Rock Junction - West Greenwich, RI

My Darkest Days, 'Casual Sex'

Have you heard the new My Darkest Days song "Casual Sex?" The song is the first single from the band's upcoming album (due in a few months). The single is available for purchase via iTunes on Jan. 17. If the guitar tone sounds familiar, that's because John 5 is wailing on this track.

My Darkest Days will hit the road with Nickelback, Bush and Seether this spring.
