Oil and Water Do Mix, Glam and Grunge Style

Have you heard? Stephen Pearcy and Warren DeMartini - otherwise known as the cornerstone of RATT - just recorded with Dave Grohl - otherwise known as the former drummer of Nirvana.

Grohl is working on an unnamed side project and he invited Pearcy and DeMartini to join him in the studio.

"We'll let [Dave] tell you about when he's ready, kidz," Pearcy recently explained. "Not for a RATT record."

Pearcy also spoke about the collaboration via his Twitter account, writing, "Thing is it's a way cool thing of Dave. We're just privileged to b a part of that. Next RATT!"

So, I'm very anxious to hear this collaboration. I think Dave Grohl is immensely talented, especially when it comes to drumming. He's a good frontman for Foo Fighters as well, but I really think he's brilliant behind the kit. Anyway, that aside, I think it says a lot about Pearcy and DeMartini and their willingness to work with a former member of Nirvana. After all, one of the biggest myths in music history is that Grunge killed Glam. Oh and it wouldn't surprise me in the least to read a quote from Grohl sometime in the near future about how he loved listening to Glam bands before a big Nirvana show. After all, life is ironic, right?

Sweden's Badmouth Release New Video

Our Swedish Glam friends Badmouth have just released a new video for "To Watch the Bridges Burn." The song is from the EP "T" which is really part three of the H.A.T.E. EP series. "T" was released in November and you can pick it up on iTunes. It's pretty good, has four songs and is just under four bucks.

Badmouth will hit the road with Gilby Clarke next month in the UK and France.

New Adrian Smith Side Project

Ok Iron Maiden fans, get ready: Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith has joined forces with former Sikth frontman Mikee Goodman to form a new side project called Primal Rock Rebellion. The new project was announced yesterday and it crashed the Maiden website as a result.

The Primal Rock Rebellion debut will be released February 27. Here's the band's first single "I See Lights":

Steven Tyler, Alice Cooper and Weird Al Yankovic Ring in 2012

This is very cool!

Alice Cooper and his band played a New Year's Eve gig in Hawaii Saturday night. The show included Weird Al Yankovic, Michael McDonald, Bob Rock and some other folks... and Steven Tyler. That is what I call a New Year's Eve party! For whatever reason, Alice has to use written lyrics to get through the tune (who doesn't know the words to every Beatles song, let alone "Come Together?") but maybe it was a psychological crutch or something. Oh and Steven is Steven and jumps up on a table toward the end of the clip.

Here's the video of Tyler, Cooper and Weird Al doing "Come Together." The musicians look like they are honestly having a great time.

2012 Rock Predictions

Happy New Year!

Do you like playing the predictions game? I think guessing what may or may not happen in the new year is pretty fun. I especially like to guess what will happen to the world of rock during 2012.

With that said, here's my top guesses for rock and Glam in 2012:

5. Aerosmith will record and release a new record and hit the road. Their show will be the top grossing rock act of the year.

4. Van Halen's 2012 tour won't be as successful as the 2007 jaunt, even with a new album, but...

3. The new Van Halen record will enter the Billboard charts in the top 10 and enter at number one on active rock.

2. Poison will headline M3.

1. The Appetite for Destruction-era Guns n' Roses reunion will happen during the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in April.

So those are my guesses for 2012. What do you think will happen in the world of rock and Glam between now and this time next year? And do you agree with my guesses? Be sure to let me know in the comments section.
