This is a little surprising: Janet Gardner is leaving Vixen. The singer announced her decision on Facebook. She had some medical issues last year so that could be the reason.
I wonder if we're reaching peak glam. By that I mean it is 2019. These musicians we love are not getting any younger. They've all basically done a big reunion or three by this point. The first Rocklahoma was in 2007 - well over a decade ago. I fully expect to see more retirement announcements in the next 18 months, either from individual musicians or full bands. You just can't live on the road forever.
The Inkcarceration Festival will take place July 12 - 14 in Mansfield, Ohio. That weekend is about the apex of heat in the Buckeye State, so that should be interesting. Humidity aside, these bands don't do it for me. This seems like another cookie-cutter event. What do you think?
From my inbox. Queensryche will release The Verdict on March 1. One of the songs on that album is "Dark Reverie." Check it out:
Bellevue, Washington - January 14, 2019 - Queensrÿche have just dropped their newest track "Dark Reverie" today via Century Media Records.
"Dark Reverie" is a guitar driven progressive ballad addressing self-reflection during times of tragedy and the questions we ask ourselves while grieving," states Parker Lundgren about their latest track release.
"Dark Reverie" is the second song Queensryche has released, following "Man The Machine", off of their forthcoming full-length album. The Verdict was produced, mixed, and mastered by Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Iced Earth, Hatebreed) at Uberbeatz in Lynwood, WA, Planet-Z in Wilbraham, MA and Watershed Studio in Seattle, WA.
In support of their forthcoming release, Queensrÿche will hit the road starting March 2nd' in Orlando for their headline tour, making stops in major markets such as New York, Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles, and will wrap on April 3rd in Seattle. Happy Sunday, friends. It's been snowing all weekend here in southern Ohio. In fact, we got more than anticipated overnight. I was pretty disheartened when I looked outside. This is a great day to stay inside and listen to some music and relax. Eric and I are actually working on a little house project so we'll probably turn on Hair Nation while we do that - it's pretty much our go-to when doing construction work.
Do you have any favorites you like to crank when the weather sucks? I always like to pretend it's summer. Pretty much all glam bands, save Cinderella, remind me of summer. Cinderella definitely has that winter vibe. But if you want to feel warm, it's great to put on some David Lee Roth or Poison and pretend you're at a festival somewhere, looking for a tree to beat the heat.
But if you want to stay in the moment... there is no better album than Cinderella's Long Cold Winter. One of the best of our favorite era, actually.
Def Leppard are in the middle of the Hysteria & More tour. To celebrate the end of the 2018 UK and Ireland legs, the band just released a video recap of those shows. In June the tour starts up again in Europe, visiting places like Sweden, Denmark, Italy and a stop at the Download Fest. Then there's a big swing through Canada. I imagine a few U.S. dates will get tagged on to the Canadian run, but we'll have to see about that.
