Sorry, this isn't a post about a Glam band, there's no time for that today.
Yesterday, Republican leader Mitch McConnell had a bunch of disabled protesters arrested. They rallied at his office to fight for their Medicaid. Instead of talking to them like humans he treated them like animals.
Medicaid insures 79 million Americans. Here's some stats: 49% of all births are paid for by Medicaid dollars and 64% of nursing home residents pay their fees via Medicaid. It covers 30% of adults with disabilities and 20% of Americans overall.
So if you care about the disabled, call your senator and make your opinion known. The congressional switchboard is 202-224-3121. There isn't much time, so don't wait.
I'm turning off the comments because I don't have time to deal with the teeth gnashing. Someone close to me is very disabled and this post in her honor. Please don't disrespect her.
I swear, I want to see this show again... but man I don't want to spend the cash. Guns n' Roses just dropped a video recap of the first half of their European tour. Looks like great (giant) crowds and a lot of fun. Look at the castles in the background of Ireland!
Survival Pictures just released Chris Cornell's video for "The Promise." The proceeds from the sale of this song will go to refugees and children. The song calls attention to the Armenian Genocide and also recent humanitarian crises, including the debilitating civil war in Syria.
Cornell and his family toured refugee camps in Greece earlier this year. That experience led to the formation of The Chris And Vicky Cornell Foundation which focuses on child refugees.
The initial band lineup has been announced for ShipRocked 2018 – “A ShipRocked Odyssey” -- set for January 21-25, 2018 onboard Carnival Liberty. Stone Sour, Seether, In This Moment, and Black Label Society lead a lineup of over a dozen bands slated to play the ninth edition of the annual vacation experience as it sails from Port Canaveral, Florida to Nassau and the private island of Half Moon Cay in The Bahamas.
Here’s what some of the bands are saying about this year’s ShipRocked:
"Finally. We've been trying to make this happen for a long time. Now Stone Sour is joining the ShipRocked party - and WE HOPE YOU'RE ALL AS EXCITED AS WE ARE!! There's gonna be music, excitement, craziness and maybe - JUST MAYBE...somebody's goin’ to get naked. Come join us on ShipRocked!!” – Corey Taylor, Stone Sour
"We're really looking forward to being back on ShipRocked! We had a blast in 2016 and we intend to go even bigger on the next one!" – Shaun Morgan, Seether
In addition to Stone Sour, Seether, In This Moment, and Black Label Society, the otherworldly lineup for ShipRocked 2018 includes The Stowaways, Nothing More, Starset, Beartooth, Nonpoint, Red Sun Rising, Shaman’s Harvest, Aranda, Badflower, DED, He Is Legend, Royal Republic, Palisades, Doll Skin, and Kaleido, with more to be announced.
ShipRocked’s resident all-star band The Stowaways returns in 2018 for a pair of special shows with its revolving cast of special guests, bringing a mix of classic hits, unexpected surprises, and a roster of performers that can't be seen anywhere else. Check www.ShipRocked.com for the latest on ShipRocked 2018 and The Stowaways' 2018 lineup.
ShipRocked producer Alan Koenig of ASK4 Entertainment says, “We are very proud that the ShipRocked experience continues to grow, and gets better and better with each sailing. This year, we’re primed and ready to take our 9th voyage to infinity and beyond, combining two of our favorite things, space and great live rock music! Blasting off from Port Canaveral with an incredible lineup, 2018’s mission will continue to push the limits and promises to be the most out of this world vacation yet, taking one small step for man, one giant leap for ShipRocker-kind!”
If time has taught me anything. Got to learn to be the ball. - "Nobody's Fool."
When you think of Glam, Kenny Loggins probably doesn't come to mind and in general, I'd say that's right. Except, of course, for the brilliant track "Nobody's Fool." The song is from the Caddyshack II soundtrack. It was also Loggins' last big Billboard hit.
The video is 100% 80s Glam. If you squint, you'll think you're watching Winger! Suddenly Loggins is wearing leather and has high hair. There's colored laser lights everywhere. Even better, the song is killer with an amazing chorus.
Honestly, I love Kenny Loggins. His songs "This Is It," "Heart to Heart" and "I'm Alright" are everything to me. But I thought I would share the "Nobody's Fool" video with you. It sort of illustrates how everyone tried to be Glam in the 80s. Loggins succeeded here.
Rolling Stone just came out with a list of the 50 best concerts of the last 50 years.
Here's a hint: all the very top rated stuff happened WAY before I was born (or before my parents were even out of high school!) but there's more modern stuff on here too. And yes, shows from the 80s made the list, including Metallica's Damaged Justice and Prince's Purple Rain tours. That said, I don't think I actually saw a single tour that made the list... and I've been to a lot of shows.
What do you think? Did Rolling Stone get it right?
Now Gene Simmons says he wants to trademark the metal horns as a tribute to Spider Man. Who is this guy fooling? No one. He is getting dragged online and he deserves it. He's insane and needs to drop this charade.
In case you're wondering, I'm continuing to cover this because I feel like we've reached peak stupid when it comes to metal bands. I don't see how anything can top this when it comes to greed and idiocy.
