The Lenten Season

Are you giving up any glam for Lent?

You’ll see folks with ashes on their foreheads today. Mardi Gras is over and the Lenten season has begun.

Most folks that I know give up things like chocolate, donuts, Twitter… when I was in college, one of my Catholic roommates gave up boys for 40 days because she was just over it. (This seriously happened).

So this morning I got to thinking “I wonder if any of the glam faithful give up their favorite music during Lent?”

I couldn’t do it. I can’t imagine not being able to listen to whatever I want, whenever I want. The thought makes me shudder.

Thoughts?

Here's The Official Video For 'Rage'

The other day we talked about the new L.A. Guns tune "Rage." Now the band has dropped the official video for the track. It's a concert clip and sort of makes you feel right at the show. I like that bands still make videos. I guess at this point they are just for sharing on social media. They certainly never show up on television anymore.

Def Leppard To Participate In 'Record Store Day'

Record Store Day is set for April 19. According to the official Record Store Day website, the event "...was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1400 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Today there are Record Store Day participating stores on every continent except Antarctica."

Now you can purchase a special "part 2" edition of The Story So Far. Click through for details on how to purchase this special edition. There is still one really awesome record store within 20 miles of my house. Hopefully you are lucky enough to live near an actual record store, too.

Aerosmith Release 'Get Your Wings' Merchandise

The Aerosmith album Get Your Wings is now 45 years old. This is the album that brought us "Train Kept A' Rollin.'" An Aerosmith live show staple. I wouldn't mind one of those mugs but I don't need it. I'm trying to eliminate items from my home, not bring more in! But still... so tempting!

L.A. Guns Release 'Rage'

First off, go listen to the Animal Drive cover of "Monkey Business" that I posted yesterday.

Now, today we have new music from L.A. Guns. They just dropped a stream of their song "Rage." It is from the forthcoming album The Devil You Know. That is coming out via Frontiers and I will be a first day buyer.

This Animal Drive Cover Rocks

Animal Drive rocks. Their covers EP is called Back to the Roots and they've done a version of Skid Row's "Monkey Business." The album is on Frontiers.

My goodness. Nothing is ever going to top the original, but this is a close second. Vocalist Dino Jelusic has a set of pipes, that's for sure. (You might know the name from Trans-Siberian Orchestra). Animal Drive are from Croatia. The band has one album out already called Bite! and are working on a follow-up now.

I was playing this "Monkey Business" cover and Eric was across the room. I didn't say anything. After it was done I said, "It's crazy how good that cover is!" and he said, "That wasn't Skid Row?!" So yeah. It's good.

Purchase Bite! here!
